Great job and content. I really enjoy watching your videos. You guys operate like a finely tuned machine. I really enjoy watching you all working on your own equipment. I remember working on my combine one summer cutting wheat when it felt like 110 degrees. It was absolute misery. I started running a combine when I was 10-11 years old in 1980 cutting soybeans when my dad needed a break. I never owned one with a gps, it was all old school.

FYI. I see you always plug different wires when hooking and unhooking mac don. We used to too till we wire the separate plug for tilting headrr right into the single point hook up. Like it.

This looks like a variable speed sheave. One half of the sheave "floats," that is slides along the shaft. Some control moves that half of the driver sheave to increase or decrease the speed of the driven sheave. The belt runs high on the pulley or deep into the V of the pulley, depending on the control. This was the common mechanism on older JD combines - 3 speed gear box, but a variable speed sheave mechanism between the engine and the transmission. A hydraulic cylinder positioned the double sheave, increasing or decreasing the input speed to the transmission. However, the belt you had was NOT intended for a variable speed sheave arrangement. The multi-ribbed belt you had in hand would not be part of a variable speed mechanism. Belts for variable speed sheaves are wide and deep, able to adapt to a changing pulley size. Are there two belts involved?
