I love this idea and you should try to build it in a hermitcraft episode, perhaps as some kind of amusement park where people can "Get the Redstone experience". Doing red stone contraptions with mine carts is great, riding a mine cart in that set up would be better. For another challenge I say try build the biggest and most complex thing you can with no red stone dust, repeaters etc and use all observer blocks. Chain pistons moving observer blocks, activate rails etc.

Well using rails as redstone trails is already a thing that is used by many redstoners because rails don't cause light updates unlike redstone so this allows you to make lag free circuits

And also rails are pretty much a kinda binary Redstone circuit. What i mean by binary is that they only have 2 possible states whereas redstone has 16 states so it's useful when you don't want any unwanted fluctuations when using observers.

Make a 10 piston extender with only pistons, sticky pistons, slime blocks and redstone blocks. You can also have 1 lever.

These redstone challenges remind me of those creative servers which ban most redstone components because of lag reasons. No repeaters, no observers, no comparators, no dispensers, literally the only way to make delay is using the extension and retraction of pistons.
