I just watched Nausicaa for the first time, I'm absolutely blown away, I know other Miyazaki films also deal with themes of anti-war, like howl's moving castle, but this was definitely the strongest IMO. Couple with the amazing animation (as always) and the butt-clenching action (I really thought Nausicaa was going to croak like for reals) it has undoubtedly earned the spot of my favorite ghibli movie. Dog bless

This video came out AFTER Breath of the Wild. How did that not come up when discussing the glider? Anyways, if you wanted a game that would take the best elements of Breath of the Wild, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Shadow of the Colossus, this would be that game. Of course, with it also being based off of a Miyazaki movie. . . yeah, this would have the potential to be the greatest game ever made. (Though, if we were going just based on the movies, I would definitely pick Castle in the Sky for an adaptation. Understandable why Jakey would pick Nausicaa though, as it has much more material to go off of).
@adrianfernandez2010
@adrianfernandez2010 5 жыл бұрын
Perhaps that segment was filmed before the game and Jakey did not want to rewrite his entire script based on this new game. Also, why would you pick Castle in the Sky? I am interested to hear your thoughts.
@akundaruratkalalupa9710
@akundaruratkalalupa9710 3 жыл бұрын
BOTW took pretty big inspiration from ghibli movie. The glider in breath of the wild, actually inspired by nausicaa btw. There is a video about it, and if you see some character design, such as the monk maz koshia. Its face and symbol have similarities with one of the monk in nausicaa that act as antagonist. Basically opposing nausicaa as she is the chosen one / the blue clad one.
@galdragonproductions9966
@galdragonproductions9966 7 жыл бұрын
Maybe events could occur regardless of your presence, basically an always active and moving world that doesnt feel like it revolved around the player. Because in reality, in a world like this there would be endless conflict in all of these regions, and through this - replaying the game could be really eye opening. Ive always loved the idea of a game that lets you fail, so you can still 'finish' the game but only saving 10% of the world you could potentially save. So it would be organically discovering things like zelda BOTW, but with a bit less direction towards specifc goals i.e ganon. Basically I just want a simulatated world that I have to work hard to be a hero in, not just when i go to a new town/area there is a conflict ripe for my assistance everytime, y'know snakebuoy?

@TheThreeMinekateers

Im sure there are games that get close, but maybe not completely
@sacta
@sacta 7 жыл бұрын
Dead Rising kinda does it. The point of the game is to save as many people as you can, but if you don't optimize your time enough, or aren't strong enough, survivors will be killed, and windows for events will expire. I think Chrono Trigger is also famous for being one of the first games to do it too, but until I have played it, I can't judge.
@quasicroissant
@quasicroissant 5 жыл бұрын
That sounds really cool, but realistically would probably be so resource intensive that I don't know if it's practically doable in a world that's big enough for the game concept to work
@JasonMasters
@JasonMasters 5 жыл бұрын
I like the idea of a game which has limited time before certain negative events occur which you could have prevented. I know programming and if programmed correctly, it wouldn't be too resource-intensive. You don't need to actually have events occurring in the background. You just need sets of different "starting conditions" with the particular set which you encounter when you arrive in an area being set by whether or not you've done certain other actions within a certain time frame.

The Phantasy Star games are also heavily inspired by Nausicaa (not so much in plot but definitely in visual style, especially 2 and 4.) The first six Final Fantasy games, on the other hand, were basically repeated attempts to make a Laputa: Castle in the Sky video game.

Dude, my emotions can't take it. And I kinda don't want Nausicaa to get tarnished by the sheer possibility of a bad game, some had been made back in the day, they were not good. Nausicaa, no matter how great a game based on it could be, should stay untouched as a legendary film and manga series that will be remembered throughout the ages, like other works of extraordinary art. BTW, Tater? What the fuck, Jakey, it's Teto!

Ive thought about literally this same exact concept before, except instead of an open world game like this (which tbh sounds more cool than my idea) ive always thought about it as a game like civ, where you pick from the kingdoms and try to grow your kingdom in a unique overworld with different resources, and risks, from the movie. (I just saw my own earlier comment I hadnt realised ive seen this before)

Having an overarching storyline you could conclude at the end after completing most of the open world content would be a neat way to wrap things up with the manga ending. I think people who had only seen the movie would be absolutely shocked at how hopelessly dark the manga ending was. Would spark a lot of word of mouth as people tell other folks 'you aren't going to believe the ending to this game'.

This video is great, and it really shows the love you have for this gorgeous film, which I personally share, it's one my favourite animated films and it always moves me. I'd love a Nausicaa-based game, really, that universe has so much potential. It would be nice to see more from this series!

Dude! Seriously this is the greatest thing I have stumbled upon in your channel. Let me just start by saying huge fan here. Your content is always gold. That’s why I’m shocked I missed this video somehow. I’ve seen most all you videos but somehow the video were you combined some of my favorite things in the world, I overlook it. Ok now that the niceties are out of the way. I just wanna say how much I want to see this concept come to Floracion. And they way you would go about it is simply brilliant. Oh how bad I wish I could just give you all the money in the world to make your vision of how that game could work.. Ps. Princess mononoke is probably my favorite of his movies. I would love to hear your thoughts on how to make that a game.. or spirited away. Or howls. ANY OF THEM!! You brilliant bastard! I can’t wait to see more of these
