WOW. I grew up on The Imperials in the 70's and 80's, and their original version of this song is one of my favorite songs of all time. This version is spectacular, and honors both the original version and the Scripture on which its based extremely well. God bless you gentlemen!!

Then you will have been appalled by the song then and you will know how it is a travesty of the Biblical text which was debunked decades ago. If anything, it reflects all that the prophets rail against Judah-Israel as paying lip service to YHWH (like most of USA and UK at Christmas nowadays) while exploiting and murdering the poor and going off to alternative temples and shrines for their real heart and gut worship. It is more like the sin of Jeroboam as it confuses state and cult

This content is what our churches in America need to hear, these verses are directed towards believers. The church in America has lost it's way, what with "I'm okay,Your okay" philosophy and the ordination of homosexual pastors and bishops. We, as Christ followers need to repent, humble ourselves, and fall on our faces in prayer begging for forgiveness! We, the church, have let God and our country down! Let us repent, beg for forgiveness, and go spread the Good News of the GOSPEL!!!!!!!

More attention needs to be paid to the words, ". . . and TURN from . . . ." That's the only way He will hear our prayers. Prayers by themselves are empty.

I am so glad I found this because I have been hearing it so often on the AFA/AFR radio station in our local area and it NEVER ceases to put tears into my eyes! I first heard this song at 8 years old. It became my favorite. It hasn't changed. It's still my favorite And it caused it to be my favorite scripture as well. I'm in my 50's now. This song and the scripture still hold up! Truly annointed! Thank you for posting this beautiful Important song, and memory! I've never forgotten.

Wonderful version of one of the great classics of Gospel music. Our church's choir did the entire Jimmie and Carol Owens album that this song is from back in 1985, and it was a powerful experience. -Great job guys!

Yes, David's Psalm was the one Jim Murray sang. Invocation - right :). Word's I believe were, "For those whose eyes would sleep. Render them in perfect peace". Man, it's been long enough I probably cobbled those lyrics :). But did love all the music the Imperials recorded but was partial to when you "Terry" and Sherman were with the group. Certainly was an anointing on you all. So glad you rerecorded "If My People". Beautiful man!

beautiful and much needed verse. at first it bothered me that I couldn't remember where I'd heard that chord progression before. It's "Walk Away Rene"- I guess it changes enough to avoid copyright problems. good song though.
