The Vikings drafts have been pretty thin lately, so I doubt the Vikings compete in an improving NFC North. It’s time to rebuild.

Last years rookie class was pretty good man. Addison, Blackmon, and Ivan Pace was the best UDFA player last year in the whole league. The lions draft was better but if they get a QB who falls and works out this could be the best offense in the NFL. That’s a lot to ask but it’s not as dyer as people make it out.

The beginning of the end for the Kirk Cousins era in MN actually began last off season when the Vikings declined to give Cousins another extension and chose to let Kirk play out the remainder of his contract. Kirk was finished in MN and he knew it, i dont think it was so much a front office decision as it was an ownership decision. Kirk's made millions quarterbacking the Vikings for 6 seasons and there's 1 playoff W to show for it. Time for the Vikings to move on.

You put the contract on the table, you have a lot of choices, you could get Fields for a 3rd round pick unless everyone's going new QB, I doubt that given the number of teams waiting on how the draft falls. In 2 weeks Minshew, if the Vikings and others approach him, and Fields probably will still be available after Cousins and Mayfield are signed. Cousins is no longer the long-term solution, the contract is a lot shorter than the last contract minimum. I suspect anyone can get Cousins for additional years and total guaranteed money, some coach/GM with a lesser QB not drafting top 5 might commit to him for the next 3 years and that would beat the Vikings, even if the money is less this year.

Vikings are moving on! Whether he is a true winner in the playoffs beyond passing yards & passes completed during the regular seasons is still a question to be answered! We should have a bridge quarterback to prepare the one we once again select in the draft. Go the Green Bay Packers/Love approach! KOC & GM screwed their approach with their original selection of Hall and then Dobbs. We had better get this right for the future of the franchise!

Wins and Losses are not QB stats. Stafford had 0 playoff wins in 12 years Goff had 3 playoffs wins and a SB trip in 5 years yet they traded Goff for Stafford teams do not consider non QB stats when evaluating a QB

if simms qb evaluation for those rookie qbs is similar to the league. good luck for kirk finding a team. i put it together 2 weeks ago, baker back to the bucs, kirk back to the vikes, fields to the falcons and russ to the steelers.

I’m not convinced Zach Wilson’s story is finished. If you watch his Pro Day he has phenomenal passing talent. Game time his confidence waned. I think, without proof really, his release point got f--d up. If you have a quick release - he does - you better sync up because it can look ugly and you’ll throw some worm burners or sail it into the cheap seats. But if he gets his MOJO back, like the Permian Panthers, he could be a star. Will he? I wouldn’t bet it either way.

I remember Kirk Cousins saying he's prioritizing a Super Bowl win over money, so now I'm thinking: what about Kirk Cousins with the L.V. Raiders (and L.V. would keep Aidan O'Connell too)? Also, Davante Adams did say he'd like to work with Kirk Cousins.

I agree that LV makes as much sense as anywhere. And obviously O'Connell will stay because he's on a 4th round rookie contract, but he's not a starter. I don't know if I agree LV is a Kirk Cousins away from an SB, but I'm all for anything that makes the Chiefs' lives harder.

Assuming he's prioritizing a SB win over money, leaving MIN makes zero sense. He has the best WR in the league, another hotshot young WR, a top 5 TE, 2 franchise tackles, and a defense on the upswing. It's a money thing, or a guarantee thing that the Vikings just cannot or will not match. Keeping in mind that both JJ and Darrisaw will need massive extensions, and I pick both those guys over Kirk.

@@eheroneos56 I do agree with you in a lot of ways concerning MIN. However, their offense has been made around Kirk Cousins' passing game, so therefore, if it has to do with money, then he has leverage over MIN. Also, going to L.V. makes sense for other reasons, e.g. it might be more difficult to get into the playoffs while on an NFC North team than with an AFC West team. Another example would be that the L.V. Raiders seem like they could be a contender next season to get into the playoffs, i.e. if they continue surging like they showed signs of last season. Maybe L.V. could bring in Derrick Henry, and maybe even Haason Reddick too.

I’ve been writing it ad friggin’ nauseum: Cousins, Dak and Lamar have skills BUT they’re awful playoff quarterbacks. The proof is in the numbers. If the numbers in my head are right - I haven’t looked for awhile - combined they are 4-11 plus-or-minus in January. And forget about February as they have zero Super Bowls amongst them. I’m probably off by a bit. But Cousins is an excellent passer - beautiful mechanics and strong arm (59 MPH I believe) although high Load-to-Release (LTR) number (I’m guessing around 0.4 without video) - but he’s not mobile. I think, to take advantage of NFL rule changes, the Vikings need a mobile QB. I think they should be willing to get a QB who’s maybe not quite as good of a passer but who can run. Heck, maybe a guy’s out there who can do both? (I just thought of a comparison. CJ Stroud and Kirk I believe had same ball-speed numbers at the combine but CJ’s release is much quicker - I saw a video where a guy showed CJ at 0.3 on quick routes. And Stroud is pretty mobile too. CJ is obviously a more dangerous quarterback than Cousins and in the playoffs, if I were a DC, I’d lick my lips when Cousins plays but CJ would put the Fear of God in me with his overall talent. Now, good luck finding another Stroud but there are guys who have a similar skillset out there. But I think CJ is the new prototype.)

This we know, the North division is no longer what it once was! We squandered too many opportunities as a franchise prior to the Wilts. Whether hiring a GM without experience and in turn a rookie as a coach will pan out based on what this team does in ‘24. We went from a fairy dust season in 13-4 to a disastrous 7-10 where both hires showed how rookie they were. A one year bridge QB may not be enough but we’ll see. Lions have arrived, Green Bay is back and the Bears will breakout in ‘25! We can’t be an also ran franchise or just happy to have a winning season occasionally. I want to see Hall & Dobbs developed as they should be and not how they were treated by KOC!

So if JJ stays you will always need a rookie QB contract? Chiefs do fine without an overpriced WR and having a QB making big bucks. JJ should be dealt for a bunch of No 1 and No 2 picks. We have the highest paid TE, a WR looking to "break the bank" with the biggest non QB contract in history and I guarantee you he doesn't take a penny less and they are willing to do all this. Then they will pay the LT near a record contract for tackles. They already broke the NFL giving this guy the first fully guaranteed contract in NFL history and this has what's gotten us to this point. He has done nothing but underperformed that his contracts with the Vikings.

As someone who’s been an exclusive Vikings fan since 1987, I’m really sick and tired of the whole “Kirk thing”. It’s been 6 LONG years with nothing to show for it-maybe some stats, but stats win nothing but stats. If they give this guy ANOTHER rich contract, it will be infuriating. There don’t seem to be a lot of teams lining up to grab this guy, and that should tell people in the front office something. If they don’t get a real bargain, then MOVE ON.

logic behind ATL skipping Kirk- take Fields instead. ATL oline alot better than the last 3 seasons of trash Oline Fields played behind. Fields should play a little bit better, a little more time to read downfield, ATL oline should help his run game even more, cut down on him getting sacked. If Kirk wants a SB he HAS to to go ATL he has no chance in Vikings Kwesi has destroyed that team for a half decade at least... ATL has a much better GM than MIN It is not about MONEY... So it's a one position sport. We won the division with one of the worst defenses we every had. Don't you think a defense helps in the playoffs? Lamar just lost a home champ game and his D gave up 17 points. Find me a game with us in the playoffs when we gave up 17.

@@isaiahh4108 he’s never had a chance. He deserves that. Wilson isn’t as good and Lance wasn’t given a real shot. And he didn’t want Lance which why he drafted Purdy. He wanted Mac Jones, him and Purdy very different than Lance. Justin is better than all of them. Real coaching makes a difference. Defensive coaches and bad offensive schemes like Getsy in Chicago doesn’t help any QB.
