Introducing Beijing Watches (historically known as the Beijing Watch Factory) Beijing Dark Black Diver 200m watch in 42mm.
Beijing Watches reached out to me and I took a look at their catalog - Instantly I fell in love. Not only do they make relatively standard dive watches, field watches, dress watches, aviator watches… But they make some highly complex movements - Including minute repeaters, tourbillons, bi-axial tourbillons. You name it… They probably make it. I’ve always been intrigued by brands that have the guts and the mechanical know-how to develop their own movements. In Switzerland… We have Rolex. In Japan… We have Grand Seiko. But now we have a new player from China… Welcome Beijing Watches to the club.

Interesting brand that does feel like a sleeper. With Grand Seiko resting on its laurels, I can see this being a more interesting and affordable option. The movement also sounds very interesting, great review!

Thank you. I don’t think they can steal all the laurels of Grand Seiko yet… But it’s a brand resurrection. I hope they push their development and aim toward haute horology.

Not really my thing, but I’m glad to have found out about some real horology from China. I assume that all repairs will have to go back to the company in China?

That’s a good question. I’m assuming general maintenance would be easy to do at any watch repair shop. But the pitfall of any in-house movement… Can you get parts if needed? I know they’re very receptive when it comes to reviews and answering emails… I don’t know how easy it is to get new parts for service.

If they made the ends of the strap curved to fit the watch is absolutely be a buyer. I hate round cases and flat bracelet ends.
