I've never heard this poem recited via a female voice, let alone one done so well. I usually hear it read with a deep, male voice. Both ways are excellent in their own right, but this was such a welcome change.

I love reading it and I longed to hear it recited, but I always get frustrated by the style of the delivery… even a giant amongst the voices, Sir Michael Caine and his version of this poem frustrates me and makes me feel that if I could recite it with the actor’s ability like his, I would put the force into different words or made the pause in a different place… but today I came across your version… and I held my breath till the end and had tears rolling down my cheeks as line after line, I was hearing every single word said exactly how I would have wanted to say it if I had the gift for reciting it… well you have that gift and you deliver that beautiful, powerful poem in the most perfect way… thank you ❤

I'm pretty sure the line "You'll be a Man, my son!" is not about our current culture's meaning of "being a man." To me, in context, it sounds more like, "You did a very hard thing and I'm proud of you."
