There are of course thousands of families in India, in the UK and around the world, frightened of what might be happening to their relatives.
ITV News was able to speak to the Indian journalist Barkha Dutt who has been reporting the Covid crisis in her country.
Last night she lost her own father to the virus but she wanted to do the interview to talk about how badly the crisis has been handled.
