Old man was a dentist. Filled me in that it was the brushing, not the goo that is really important. The goo just makes it more pleasant. Also, yes, he got those phone calls. "Would you recommend...?" and it is all in the way they word it. "Would you recommend to patients that they brush with over not brushing at all?" Well, yeah. "There you have it folks! 9/10 dentists recommend brushing with brand x!" Makes you wonder about the 1.

They were created and used media and movies to pretend "clean shaven" is the way to go, although throughout history beards have been common and often seen as a great distinguisher. And those little nicks ya those are due to our faulty blade, but we'll try and blame with terms like "diagonal cutting" while ignoring that anyone who shaves can easily have a grown in hair and that's just a side note to being beautiful and clean..you know the last few years have sought to destroy the beard movement with clean tests.

You forgot to mention the part where only a "pea sized" portion of toothpaste is required to effectively deliver the required fluoride (not all municipalities have it in drinking water) when every toothpaste commercial ever shows at least 4x that much on the brush. The size of a toothpaste tube opening is actually federally regulated because of the ridiculously huge amounts of toothpaste that the companies tried to get people to believe was normal.

You know what you wouldn't do while your mouth is acidic and therefor your teeth more sensitive to abrasion? brush your teeth. especially not when you have fluoride in the toothpaste because the acidity in your mouth means that fluoride will will turn into hydrogfluride witch eats trough glass.

Jelle Wijckmans First statement is partially true.. but plaque builds up and it should be brushed away.. but not as soon as you finish eating.. As for the 2nd statement.. Same as above. “For those looking for a career change.” As a new person with zero knowledge you’ll essentially be an intern and if you’re lucky make more than minimum wage. “We promote from within.”? That means we hire across the street (rival companies) or our personal friends in the office who know nothing. “Many ways of being paid same day.”? That means it is a commission-only position. “We care about our employees.” That’s just filler to make our ad look like is has meaning. “We are involved in the community with many charities.” We pay you less so we can donate to the community, as a deductible making us more money, we get good public will, and find more idiots who will work for less, but have pride in their employer. And finally “Management works closely with you every step of the way.” Why that just means we are attempting to get maximum work out of you and when you’re positioned to earn more we find the next person willing to work for less.

@@MargaritaMagdalena because, toothpaste is a gimmick made up by the Dental Association. I just brushed my teeth with water. The foaming bubbles and the mint flavor, only hide your bad breath and make you think your teeth are getting cleaner. Simply brushing your teeth with water, gets rid of the germs and bacteria that cause the bad smell anyways and tartar buildup, that leads to tooth decay and Cavities. To be all honest, I used mouthwash to clean surfaces because of the antiseptic properties it has. It works great on the toilet bowl and gets rid of rings. Flossing is utterly pointless, because it doesn't get to all the spots and it usually breaks the string between your teeth. I found flossers to be a lot better even though it's a lot of waste of plastic.

Lajos Winkler I mean, my dentist told me that mechanically removing plaque from the teeth (ie brushing) is the most important thing, but he was talking about how mouthwash/listerine is useless, not toothpaste. I'm genuinely baffled by all of this. when flossing I can literally see that it removes plaque, how tf is that bullshit? oh cracked...

Listerine, particularly the one that helps restore enamel is actually pretty effective in minimizing and fighting gum disease, and other bacterial infections that occur in the mouth. Granted it also kills good bacteria in your mouth but that flora is quickly replenished. Flossing on the other hand isn't as beneficial, and in some ways can be more damaging and lead to higher chances of infection. Listerine at least often time hits the area where floss can't and is a more convenient and effective substitute.

All ancient human remains that were discovered did not seem to have dental problems. Dental problems started to appear in modern times with the advent of unhealthy diet. If your diet is healthy, it is enough to wash your mouth with water, and you won't get any dental problems.
