If G-d who has gifted you, and someone comes to you for help, you give and don't expect it back. I consider it part of tithing. We help those around us in need. Let G-d determine their motives. Bible says, if a neighbor comes to you for help and you can give, you are not to tell them to come tomorrow. Also, the Word says giving to the poor is lending to the Lord. It has nothing to do with "a sense of affirmation". 😮 Let's keep it biblical.
