I have inherited property in Italy with a ruin on it. Some years ago I engaged a geometry to design a house, but because of family commitments I never followed through. I am now in a position to again consider building. I understand that there are incentives to bring current buildings up to current standards, but what about any for building from scratch on the site of an original house?

I know you need to show a certain amount of passive income in order to get the Elective Residency visa, but what if you apply for it while you are still working? Will they consider a social security statement or 401K statement as proof that you will have the minimum passive income?

Hi Rafael and Marco, can you please give some advise on how the best way for me to re-gain my Italian citizenship, I was born in Italy and my Italian parents brought me overseas to Australia in 1968 when i was 2 years old. My parents later in 1979 became Australian citizens and lost their Italian citizenship. Because I was a minor (13 years old) at the time I lost my Italian citizenship too. I was so upset about it and all my life I have wanted to re-gain my Italian citizenship and live in Italy. I married in Italy in 2011 to my husband who is now a dual citizen. Italian and Australian and we live in Australia. My parents passed away in the last years and now my husband and I want to come to Italy to live for a while. I would appreciate if you could advise what the best way is for me to re-gain my Italian citizenship and if I am able to start the process here before we come to Italy. English is my first language however, I am fluent in speaking, reading and writing in Italian. I look forward to your answer. Thank you.

Se sei nata in Italia da genitori cittadini italiani sei cittadina italiana. I tuoi genitori quando hanno rinunciato nel 1979 alla cittadinanza italiana per acquistare la cittadinanza australiana lo hanno fatto per loro e per i figli nati dopo il 1979, se ce ne sono :-) , ma non per te che sei nata prima (del tuo diritto non potevano disporne loro). Se anche tu hai rinunciato alla cittadinanza italiana e vuoi riacquistarla devi rivolgerti direttamente all’ufficio cittadinanza del Comune in cui risiderai in Italia.

@@nicoladelsud9774 - Mille grazie per la vostra risposta. Ho fatto gia' la domanda per dichiarare l'intesa di acquistare cittadinanza per residenza al 26 novembre tramite il consulato italiano qui a Melbourne dove hanno spedito tutti i documenti richiesti al ministero italiano. Il consulato ha spiegato che ho 12 mesi di tempo per venire in Italia. Ho intensione di venire in Italia a Febbraio 2021 se il governo Australiano approva la mia applicazione per esensione per uscire dal Australia. Spero di arrivare in Italia presto. Non vedo l'ora perche' e' una che sogno di riacquistare la cittadinanza Italiana dove non e' stata colpa mia che lo persa. Scusate la mia povera scrittura italiana. La mia prima lingua e' I'inglese.
