Love these guys so much! They're all so badass. I got to talk to Steve for quite a while at the show in SLC a couple weeks ago. Talked to Keith for a brief moment. Was a surreal night. Legends!!! These guys are true Punk.

I broadly agree and I don't believe you need to look this way or that way to be a punk, actions speak louder than words and all that. However, I don't think there's anything wrong with 'looking like a punk' (if you see what I mean) because certainly, when I was younger it was quite a brave thing to do and you faced physical attack for doing so.

Fair enough. But I would argue that once the term "punk" was defined down to a set of rules about what music should sound like, what someone should wear, where suddenly there was an orthodoxy... at that point, something far more exciting and empowering was lost. Is punk dead? My comment was loosely paraphrasing the Pistols film, Filth and the Fury, when Rotten commented that within a year, punk had been dumbed down to rules and uniforms, which is what Callum's comment reminded me of.
