I agree wholeheartedly! Altough I did find The Halo Effect show to be the more memorable one. The guys played like they were transported back to the 90:s, and their first ever gigs in front of bigger audiences. At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity & In Flames all come from roughly the same part of Gothenburg and the members grew up together. From what I've gathered watching documentaries and interviews, as well as talking with several of them, there is no bad blood between these guys because they're all oldtime friends. Running a successful band as a business is different than the enthusiast-level these guys started out with, and sometimes hard choices has to be made. But regardless of the common history of the various Gothenburg Sound band members these guys have *immense* respect for eachother and their work. People try to find conflict and drama just for the sake of it, and that's just silly IMO.

Feels like if he wanted to squash any idea of a 'rivalry' with THE he would have just come out and said 'yeah it's really cool what they're doing and it's great to see some old friends having fun together'. The way he got cold, defensive and dismissive just adds fuel to the fire, because that wasn't the reaction of somebody who considers those guys friends. I also find it simply impossible to believe he hasn't heard THE at all. Come on dude.

@@kaaoszine_virallinen Lol yeah, and I agree with him, THE reminds me a lot of mid-2000s DT. But why pretend he hasn't been listening or paying any attention? It just makes it seem like there is some tension there, which feeds into the BS narrative of there being some kind of rivalry, paticularly when THE guys have come out and said that is absolutely not the case and there's no problem.

Uhh then you obviously dont listen to them anymore because everything from Playground and Sense till now has running harmonized leads and is still their most redeeming quality (Bjorn has turned into a really good guitarist and I actually prefer the way he writes leads over Jesper). If anything they are more melodic now and usually that is why people complain. But now there seem to be people who have no idea what they are talking about saying they ARENT melodic enough hahahaha. All good, those of us who started with the demos and left during that awful post clayman to clarity era have been back for a while and know what we are hearing about and are laughing at comments like these that are based in nothing because their music for the last decade contradicts what you just said. You may not like the harmonies or how they structure them but they are in most of their songs and in some cases are the only redeeming parts because of clunky production/writing.

I just think it's telling that we now have FOUR former members all playing in a different band together. In the case of Jesper, Peter and Daniel... 3 members who were instrumental in making In Flames as successful as they are. And they've ALL hinted at the fact that they weren't happy with the direction In Flames took musically. They may have quit for other reasons, like with Jesper's alcohol addiction, but it seems pretty universal that they weren't playing the music they wanted to be playing, and they've all hinted at it or said it outright in different interviews over the past few years. My gut tells me that they weren't altogether thrilled with how much power Anders had over determining the musical direction of the band. That said, it's patently obvious to anyone who knows this band, that this upcoming album Foregone sounds A LOT closer to OLD In Flames than anything they've done in over a decade. I mean every single track they've released so far ahead of the album, it just has that darker, more melodic vibe like there old stuff has. It seems like a huge break in pattern for them, and I'm happy to see it. Maybe they got bored of the "radio metal" style they had gone with recently and wanted to go back in a heavier direction, who knows. Even Jesper did an interview where he said he was shocked and surprised when he heard the new In Flames stuff, that he wasn't expecting it and loved the songs.

21 through 32 year old me was jumping for joy when state of slow decay came out. Deep down i have a love for them that never fizzled but frustrated because their last 2 albums sucked…. Bad…. Reverse time a tick before the new song came out, and The Halo Effect came about like blowing my mind as a whole, all the elements of that core In Flames and all the amazing musicians that made in flames what they are! Jesper started in flames and well it felt like its like omg the in flames is back but with the original singer (for a short time until in flames and dark tranquillity switched 😂) but it was exciting!! Then in flames a few months later comes out of left field with a new song that i wasn’t expecting! Past 2 albums left a crap taste in my mouth and i listen with basically thinking they would crap the bed, but they didn’t!! Renewed hope that in flames will actually put a good album out again! Then i see this interview and Anders being fing Anders, the guy thats like I don’t wanna play the old stuff i dont wanna scream anymore and sound like a whineyer Johnathan Davis to crappy industrial music, bash musicians that honestly i feel when they came out, snapped Anders back in gear to make an actual good album! But instead of being supportive he is Anders and u can tell he is crying inside because he helped let go the very foundation of what made in flames great, so now they are free to make the albums that we have been waiting for so long to hear and embrace…. Sorry my vent is done 😂

Broderick's music has never done well because he's a robotic player that relies far too heavily on playing every note 'perfectly' and using music theory for everything he writes rather than playing off of the feel of a song. @@JL-fs2br yeah, mikeals vocals are just too damn monotonous and nothing peaks out. Feel what I Believe is excellent with some speedy riffs but everything else just sounds like lightweighted melodeath. Even reroute to remain in flames album sounds heavier lmao !! come on Halo effect >.>

If you can’t hear Bjorn’s riff style from “Colony”up to “I the mask” you gotta be abit of a numb skull , I would say there production and guitar tones changed more than the writing.

I am really dissapointed with his reaction about Halo Effect guys. He looks and sounds nervous and annoyed. That is not the way you talk and react about your friends. Also, its a bulls**t that he didn't heard Halo music.

I read somewhere that he had vocal chord surgery in ~2001 so maybe he had to change his vocal style, but I can't find any "official" sources on that

@@autumnvolume4181 The answer is that he fucked up his voice early on in his career with bad vocal techniques. His vocals sounded amazing, but he refused to take vocal lessons back then, so he strained the fuck out of his chords. You can listen to some early 2000s recordings where he can't hit a single note to save his life, and not just because he was drunk as f.

Anders seems like a cool dude, but i've always seen him as the weak link In Inflames 😂 Too much whiny vocals. I havenb't liked In Flames since Reroute to remain, but a band has to to be able to develop - imagine playing the exact same stuff for so long as they have. They have to be able to change for their sake, even if we the old fans dislike it. We find other bands 🙂 Not sure why he got offended at the Halo Effect question tho 😂
