p.s. loved the concept of the book recipe - mixing two or more books together to recommend a new one is something I haven't seen before. Definitely more of those please.

Good video. I like that you mention a lot of books that don’t get mentioned by the other SF Book Tubers. Surprised you mentioned Anne Rice…One of my favorite writers. Always enjoy your videos.

Yep, the format is fine. I'd say, get even weirder with your connections. If they were obvious, they'd be predictable and you'd just be left with 'these books are similar, but you knew that.'

"Imterview with The Vampire" and "The Name od The Wind" , these are your perfect matches. Well done! As to Luna. New Moon I would add also The Godfather by Mario Puzo and maybe Dune. When I think about Empire of Silence, there are two book series that are Ruocchio 's favorites and he took a bit from them, they were Dune and The Book of New Sun by Gene Wolfe. I am very glad you made such a video, I like the idea, it's for me a great inspiration . Sorry for not ideal language but English is my second and I'm not good at writing in it.

Love these kind of videos. Going to check out Sea of Rust. I often find myself trying to find books that match a certain vibe. Sometime I complicate things by trying to think of a novel that might have the same vibe/atmosphere as a particular band or album (makes sense in my head if not to anyone else :)).

When I started “The Dispossessed” by LeGuin, it reminded me of Dostoyevsky. “More Than Human” by Theodore Sturgeon reminded me of Shirley Jackson. So no, you’re not the only one who makes weird comparisons in your head.

Thought provoking choices and more ideas in what to read. Nitpicking . Jane Austen died more than a decade before Victoria became Queen. She was not related as far as I know to the Brontë’s, who did live and publish during the Victorian age.

I think a great idea for SF booktube video (unless I missed some vidoes, feel free to send links)... "If you like this genre, try these SFs." I see plenty of Fantasy to SF, and SF to Fantasy videos. But my wife for example likes mystery and suspense... what would be a great SF book that can also holdup as quality examples of other genres, and be gateways for significant others to get into SF a little more? (Full disclosure: My wife introduced me to Hugh Howey's Wool, so I give her a lot of credit for that.)

If you like Altered Carbon maybe try Old Man's War, because they're both trippy, and without being more specific, characters get new bodies. I think Kowal is "Koe-al" like hoe, and Ruocchio is "Rocky-oh".

Regarding Sea Of Rust, and other AI-themed stories, it's understandable that contemporary authors who are trying to succeed would embrace AI, being the current rage and all, but I find all such stories disturbingly naive. AI is the enemy of humankind. It is also yet another tool of the ultra-wealthy in their quest to enslave us and replace us. I think all authors should vilify AI at every turn and never take the foot off the gas pedal in this regard. Just sayin. Anyway, very interesting exercise here. Enjoyed it, as I have all posts I've watched from this channel. Cheers.

Thank you! As for AI portrayals being naive… i dont doubt it. But we could say the same about the books written about what was on moon before we landed there- i appreciate the authors’ speculation although they can be very off….
