This is based on a Japanese poem called Tomino's Hell, and it is said that a young girl died a few moments after reading it. Sharp headaches, muscle spasms, and other symptoms were reported by participants.

The first one is called Hiragana, and it's used for basically anything, whereas Katakana is used for foreing words, scientific words or to give emphasis to certain words. While everything in the letters was written in either kanjis or Hiragana, there were a few characters that were written in Katakana for apparently no reason, making the guy who was reading the letters confused. In fact, if you listen carefully, you can hear him say "Katakana" lots of times!

My Japanese is limited, so this may not be correct, but In the subtitles of the tapes, the speaker says that some letters are written in caps. This is actually a localization, to make it make sense in English. Japanese does not have upper and lower cases. I believe the speaker actually says that certain symbols are written in katakana rather than hiragana. Both alphabets have the same number of symbols that make the same sounds, but hiragana is used for regular Japanese and katakana is usually used for borrowed words, mostly from English. Thus, it would be weird to read Japanese writing in katakana when it's not a loan word, just like it would be weird to read English with letters capitalized at random.

Ok so in the tape section there were some words written in capital letters actually if you put them together it will be (TOMINOS HELL) which is a japanese urban legend that if you sing the song out loud tomino will haunt you in your dreams and eventually it will cause the persons death which is realated to the game as well

My opinion on reading the thing is, I don't believe in taboos myself (my beliefs doesn't allow me to do that), however I understand to take other culture's or other nation's stories and folklore stuff with respect. I noticed Jay had a few questions about Japanese so I thought I'd answer them here! (I'm a Japanese student ^^") - obaasan does mean grandma, but can also be a way to refer to an older woman. - Japanese doesn't use capital letters quite the same way English does. There are multiple Japanese alphabets, but using katakana (アイウエオ) in place of hiragana (あいうえお) can be read similarly to how we enterpret shouting over text. Hope this clears up any confusion!

For those who don't know, the game is based on Tomino's hell poem. If you pay close attention you will find the capital letters spelling Tomino's hell in the tapes and they have just changed the wordings in the poem and the title since if someone actually reads it while playing the game they are not harmed in any way.

The poem wasn’t the actual poem i believe. The words of it were just to the left of the actual words and the title is different. Idk if that’s because it’s different in Japanese and the translation is different for it but the original cursed poem I know of is a creepypasta called tomino’s hell
