Genuinely am fed up of this game, mark through balls and they still go through, make tackles and somehow they’ll still get the ball and score the stupidest goals, meanwhile my mid r9 feels like he’s running in mud, my passes are either too slow or are going to the wrong player and nobody can finish simple chances, sick of this sh*t

The problem is the game won't let you switch to the nearest player. It switches to someone else and when it comes to the player you want, the opponent is already gone. It's like the game wants you to lose on purpose. Then you can't catch up when opponents gets pass you. Defending sucks in this game, players are randomly moving around, defenders are slow and can't keep up for some weird reason, keepers can't catch close encounter balls, and for some weird reason when you start winning, your players start acting up and they can't get the ball or score one on one goals. Then suddenly the opponents gets good and you suck now. Worst Fifa ever!!!

The defense is totally random in this game but like totally. My opponent have the Tightest defense without doing anything my players always marked my opponents defense is totally automatic. Meanwhile my defense is completely passive doing nothing. Fifa used to be about skill and experience now. Its just total randomness.

The problem is when I switch players, it always switches to the wrong one and it messes up my defense and they score.

Great tips for me to try but one thing I notice is that when I get the ball into the AI's third, their defense are on top of me instantly, whereas when it's at the other end my defense can't get near their attack. My defenders just seem to run away from their attackers and allow them to pass their way into my goal. Another thing I notice is that when I change to control another defender, they instantly move forward and let the attacker run clean through. Anyway, thanks for the tips. I'll have a try.

My backs just stand there and watch their opponent run between them before they turn around and sluggishly chase after them. How do I keep my backs between the opponent and our goal?

Sometimes I fake dragging out a full back and then run back, it’s not optimal if the winger is faster than your fullback but a lot of times you can bait them into either losing the ball or give a back pass, just go forward for a second and sprint right back.

Have you got anything on how to deal with opponents who either sit back or pressure you with high intensity? Or how can you implement a set-up that allows you to be cohesive and compact, and can press as a functioning unit? Few minutes into most games and the tempo is clear - I’m always the one with the possession, yet they’re in my face! Help!

you know its scripted when your 1 pass away from scoring and FIFA decides to pass it to the wrong player surrounded by defenders all of a sudden two passes later your opponent scores 😂

So how does your defense steal the ball without a tackle? 80% I face people when I pass the ball, the opponents players simply steal the ball away, while when I defend, they run through me. I realized this when my opponent suddenly stopped playing and I should have easily taken the ball, but still my player, near the opponent couldn’t take the ball. What is going on? Any advice? Marking is so frustrating in this game!!! How can my defenders run opposite directions when an opponent is attacking ? They need to do better really?? At least by default players should run towards the the opponent not running away from him!!!

I was so bad at this game at the start I stayed patient and learnt it and was good I got to D1 after they dropped the patch when they changed lengthy meta not that I abused it but after it I can not play at all I have played 400 games since new patch and probably have around 50 wins and it’s insane i have played since FIFA 12 but all my opponents seem to be really good and look like there having fun and it’s really irritating to see because I just look like a clown I am so slow with the ball and all my players are constantly marked so I lose the ball when I pass, my players get pushed around bullied and fall over also I get ran through because I now can’t tackle at all it’s like the button doesn’t work my players do not sprint they just stand around my gameplay has fell to pieces I can’t remember the last time I played where I wasn’t 1-0 in the first 5 minutes I am losing my mind I really feel like I’m being fucked with I have 8million coin team on PS5 and close to just discarding everyone to end this pain and suffering I genuinely feel as I am being abused by EA because as I said I’m a long time player but I watch all these tutorials and it won’t work in game for me and I’ve always considered myself a decent FIFA player that’s why it’s driving me crazy I should probably just give this FIFA up and more on does anyone have any advice for me I’m crying for help I love the concept of ultimate team that’s why I still continue.

I win comfortably against professional AI but lose every time against a world-class AI because of the poor defending. Don't know how to improve. Defending been poor since the jockey system came.

I implement most of the tips here sometimes they work and other times they don't work.

1:34 funny thing is that my opponents players do that automatically no skill needed while me for some reason ive to to it myself.

I have become better at defending in recent years, but every time I switch to a player, it either switches too late or switches to a player I never asked to. I have a good team but even when I try and clear or tackle the ball away they don't respond to the button presses. I wish EA would stop this crap with their servers also. I can be winning, especially in squad battles and the next minute it disconnets me. This disconnection never happens on any other online game, even though my internet is bad at times.

What's your tips on jockeying the people that just hold L1 and dance around your defenders inside of your box. I still have my defensive form, everything seems safe and in my control. But then they just dribble around even if I choose not to hard press them. It's unbelievably frustrating to have somebody dribble around my entire team in my defending box with a vinicius jr base card. It literally seems like there is no option to be able to steal the ball away from them. And on top of that the RB option is completely useless as my players half ass defend someone almost as if they want to give the illusion of defending while spreading their ass cheeks for the opposing attacker to have his way with them. Div 6 feels like Div 1 Fifa 15. The mechanics and gameplay has changed so much over the years that the game just makes me feel like a complete idiot. Coming from somebody who played collegiate football at a D1 level. Good football doesn't work in this game.

Fifa should be a football game you can actually play, not a strategy "order your pawn" contain grind. Defense mechanics in fifa have been rubbish since the first for PS4 came out. And, behold, it it STILL rubbish after all this time. Amazing how EA can't get this right

3:48 that scenario shouldn’t appear in the first place. There’s no way a team is going to out manned 4 to 2 on any side of their half. The game is literally made this way for dummies to be able to make one pass, hold sprint, shoot and score. If someone told me back during the FIFA 12 and prior days that in 2022 this would be the state that FIFA would be in, I wouldn’t have believed them. I think one thing that was missed in this video and majority of other defending tutorials is shown at 4:01 How did you intercept the ball? Do you run into the passing lane? Or do you stand still and let the defender run behind you? Both ways seems not to work for me. If I run into the passing lane, I get a through ball on the defender's right and the striker goes through. If I stand still, still can happen the same way. Why is there no good tutorial videos on cutting passing lanes and intercepting? At 6:02 why did you not track the run? I don't understand. You went aggressive instead of tracking it. Leading into 6:08 how did you cage him with 4 players? Is it a tactics and formation thing? At 6:53, why was the run not tracked as well? 7:18 as well, run was not tracked but aggressive defending instead, leading to intercepting the ball (which once again, cant find a good tutorial on it) 7:43 not tracking as well So in the end, when do you track and when do you attempt to challenge?

Game is broken and has been for a while. If you want to win - pick a five star team. Gone are the days where skill mattered, timing nattered, tactics matters etc. Honestly I played with the US and won five cups but it took 20 tries. I played with Argentina entered 5 won 5. Good tips but the AI of the defenders could be much more helpful. They look so dumb when they just move back all the time till the end of the pitch. And gosh I hate to see how players slide on the pitch instead of running. Why Fifa has all the licenses and no enjoyable gameplay?

People jump in or being agressive because otherwise their players do absolut nothing due to input delay, lags, broken mechanic, scrpiting etc.
