I've been playing ETS2 since a year after it's initial release, and I still do it the same way as I always have. Taking the longest jobs I can find, with damage reduced as much as o]possible (because that is as close to real as it gets) and driving as fast as I can. I've had people tell me I should do it this way or that way, I always them them that's _your_ way. I believe that if you pay for a game, you should play it however you like. So I do it _my way_...

Is the radio one of the things that make the game more realistic?

I've been playing Goba's maps since 1.22, personally I think they've gotten worse since then due to his weird recent tendency to make too harsh hills where you can't get up unless you have completely upgraded mod trucks with over 700HP. For example, just tried his newest last week and chose Ulan-Ude as my garage. My first job was a 40 ton cargo with a basic truck and right outside my garage was a very steep hill. Was stuck after just a few hundred meters and had to cheat to get out. :( But he DOES make very interesting maps otherwise that feel very realistic.

@@user-ls5rr1wg5q Yeah and that is a major problem. When you have to cheat to do the basic thing like moving forward then the creator failed badly. I appreciate his work, he puts a lot of time into it (hell, the distances are in REAL LIFE not 1:19 like normal ets maps!!!), but these are elements that he's fixated upon to an unreasonable degree and that have been present and getting worse since forever. In 1.22 version of his Trucker's Map (I think it was called back then), which was amazing and it drew me in for months, you'd have these hills too, but ONLY on a certain part of the map, once you crossed a river and were in snow-and-ice territory, not before that; but now they're everywhere. I'm now traveling north-west from Ulan-ude and I've hit a series of lake valleys with again insanely steep gradients that follow very sharp turns on which you can't gather any speed cause you almost need to stop to navigate them (plus those turns have "bad camber" as rally drivers call it, so you're lucky if you don't tip over to begin with). I've had to basically fly-cam over 30km of the route cause it was non-stop up and down. Even though I have a 8x8 offroad Kamaz with 1000HP engine, 16 gears and those big tires and am towing an empty log trailer I just can't get up certain hills cause there is not enough friction or the engine can't take 80° inclines. I've enjoyed the rest of the route (still 1700km to go, yikes!), but I do wish the gradients were more realistic and especially more manageable and I've watched plenty of Russian trucker youtubers driving over those very roads (like for example "Volvo on road 138" who is constantly driving around Ulan-Ude, Irkutsk, Chita, etc. and who was basically my inspiration when choosing where to start) to know that hills like that are not used for roads, especially main roads.

ATS is very fun

And I think there are more differencies then it looks first. For example we can drive in the cities in ATS while in ETS2 we can drive in the industrial districts only. Diving the american trucks is different because we sit between the front and rear wheels while in european trucks above the front wheels. And consider the slightly different traffic rules as well. Note: maybe it is just a feeling by me but in ATS the trucks accelerate slower and the routes are longer somehow, I mean in ETS2 the map, the distances are shorter on the road so you just realized you have reached the next city too soon and the trucks accelerate like a car. As I said it is just a feeling and maybe I am wrong. After all of these I prefer ATS more to play. I think the graphics is better a little considering the shiny crhrome surfaces and paints on the american trucks. Safe driving out there!

@@peterattilakriszt3150 the scale used in ETS2 and ATS are not exactly the same : ETS2 is 1:19 while ATS is 1:20. But you are right it looks like longer in ATS

@@peterattilakriszt3150 The routes in ATS totally are longer. I get 600+ miles hauls with just 2 points spent on long range, in ETS2 you need to max it out completely to get those (1000km+).

The only problem with TrackIR5 at least for me is the inconsistency of the software. I always have to delete my profile before launching the app, otherwise it will crash and have to force restart my pc

@@vutomy Logitech G920 but withou a shifter, this one is great and you can simply mount it on your desk, i do not want to miss it. it´s a great experience, specially if you where used to mouse and keyboard only... it only feels a bit odd at the beginning, but you get into it quite quickly.

To me pedals and shifter are a must, especially with manual shifting. Doesn't get any more realistic.

@@Eierkneifer69 when playing in VR I use a racing wheel and gear shifter for the most part once driving. As the VR headset doesn't fit snugly over my nose I can peek through and see the keyboard or just push the buttons by feel as its only really the spacebar or the F keys I use. Muscle memory.

lol yeah my immediate reaction was that I already use my right stick to move the camera around. That is its default function.

I have the buttons on my Thrustmaster wheel programmed for all manner of things, plus I use a Stream Deck from El Gatorade. Beats peering at the keyboard in a darkened room!
