Here's some unexpected benefit from your videos: my grandma actually came from cuba to live with us a few years ago, and tbh your videos are not only funny for her, but are also teaching her English. Your spanglish has been very useful to her as she can associate words to the language. Actually, there is a restaurant kinda like this in Jerusalem or Tel-Aviv. You call there, say your general food preferences and then visit an old lady who cooks a meal for you and chat with her in her kitchen.

J Pmf I’m German and as white, dorky European as can be ... and trust me, our grandmothers are exactly like this as well! It’s just a bit less dramatic and the dishes are clean by the time she has finished cooking (Ja! Ze efficiency!) It will be soup, then main course will be meat with potatoes and desert is vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries. No discussion, no matter if it’s cold or hot outside. For added bonus, grandpa then will make you drink a “Schnaps” / hard pear alcohol “a friend of his made” with him and granny will join. Then you HAVE to take a walk.

I truly love experiencing the contrast between Cuban and African American households. In Cuban households, it's " ¡Nunca come bastante!" In black households, it's "You eatin' too damn much!" lol

This reminds me when we went on a family vacation to San Francisco when I was a kid and the Asian family next to our hotel turned the front part of their house into a restaurant in the evening. They turned their living room into a dining room and the "cashier" was a register that was on a TV tray in the front hall coat closet.

Y'all, I've been to clandestine restaurants in Los ANgeles and I swear they serve the best food. There's like 5 tables in the backyard and they only have one entree and one dessert, but it's cheap and delicious. They don't have signs outside the house so you have no idea they run a restaurant so they depend on word of mouth.

This is SPOT ON! I lived with a lady that was Cuban and her Mom acted EXACTLY LIKE THIS! THANK YOU FOR PUTTING A SMILE ON MY FACE. My friend died in 2010 and her Mom(I called her Abuela too) she died in 2017. May they both rest in peace
