I just built a homemade dribble bar for my tanker, applying pig slurry. Had to get local machine shop to make my manure distributor with no chopper needed. I noticed a big reduction in odors on wheat stubble. I appreciate your video and agree it was a big learner curve, but also fun. Thanks for the ideas and info. I am farming in Ontario, Canada!

Thanks Adrian for that great insight into the use of a dribble bar. We are still using the splash plate here up in Antrim but It’s only a matter of time until dribble bars will be compulsory. Like you we have some steep and awkward places and with the additional weight of the dribble bar it will make this job a bit more difficult in places for sure. Thanks for sharing.👍

Pulling a 2600 tank with 9m trailing shoe with a 155hp tractor.. Spent 1k and chipped the tractor to 170hp when pto is running.. Best money spent! Struggled on hills like yourself but now it's no problem unless it's a very steep one!

Great video again Adrian. I’ll need to put one on my Joskin tank. I wonder will trailing shoe type ones or injecting it be forced on us eventually. Definitely spoiling silage is my biggest fear as it doesn’t breakdown as quickly as the splash plate. Nice finish to the video also😆😆

Hi Adrian, great genuine video. Two comments, at 1.50 i hope you closed your back window. I've seen nasty things happen! Second point, i run a belmac 2350 with 8metre trailing shoe bought in 2019, run on a 120hp massey 5712S, and never once had i to lock the spool valve lever in position to run the macerator. I believe there's a restriction in your unit and its this thats soaking your power. On the belmac you'd never notice the hydraulics taking power, but if caught on a hill, knocking the pto off briefly gives you extra horses. Macerator should be easily run as its just a spinning motor really

Macerator definitely takes some horsepower. We used to always drive the tank in 540economy before. Back to normal 540 now and more rpm on the tractor to cope with the horsepower loss on the macerator Very happy with our mastek one once we got used to it Ps Your not the only one to forget the switch for the macerator 🤣

Have the same bar on a Major 2670gal Alpine tank with the stepped axle. The Mastexk bar is mounted on the big rear door opening part. It wasn't mounted square on the opening so the bar is not perpendicular, the thing kept catching pipes during g the closing process, but by adjusting the stops on the break back you can get it aligned. It is not totally straight however. I made up a bracket to prevent the cunting pipes fouling on the transport bracket so hopefully it's less of a pain to use now. Pipes coming off is a regular occurance, makes me think do they shrink over time because there's hardly any pipe to spare

So Adrian I am coming to the video late in the day. Been helping my eldest daughter clear out her house after having to evict her Tennent, for not paying her rent. Massive clean-up and damage in every room gonna cost her a tidy sum to put things right. We have been hard at it for five days solid. Six full car loads to the local recycle centre. I am knackered and just about to crack open a can of beer. Watching your video I heard several references to the slurry being thick. Excuse my ignorance but can you not add some water during the mixing process.
@IFarmWeFarm
@IFarmWeFarm Жыл бұрын
Yes I do add water constantly to it but you’ll always get think stuff at the very bottom. I divert rain water into those tanks which works a treat, when it rains off course. Sorry to hear about your bit of bother, I do hear nightmare stories about that kind of stuff
@banjoboy8802
@banjoboy8802 Жыл бұрын
@@IFarmWeFarm Right I hear you. How about pumping compressed air into the pits. TP seems to be having some measure of success with his storage tank. Your set up is different in design but it could be done with a portable compressor attached to a long steel pipe would allow you to reach the thick stuff at the bottom and help break it down.

Thanks for your honesty. I hate slurry in line and then it cakes on grass. I know farmer who pulls chain harrows across the lines. In my set up I will have different tractor drivers using it so will be hard to train them. My farm very hilly especially in spring trying to pull up hills. I’m not fan of it. Extra diesel required to pull it and production of pipes etc does it help environment much or does it help create market for machine manufacturers

We got one this summer, a Slurryquip, does a great job and very happy overall. I run an MF 7716 with a 2250 Redrock on hilly ground and the pump would take more power than the macerator, its not bad at all that way. I got onto it very quickly and had no real bother, watching other folk use them on youtube before hand helped as it didnt actually come with a manual. Will put any thick stuff through it, very impressed, though the only thing I dont like is emptying stone traps or a rare macerator blockage from a stray bolt a crow has dropped or whatever be it, but nothing you can do about that.
