Hello to everyone,
That day came and I came to Petra. I really wanted to come. At the age of 40, this was a blessing. His contribution to me finding cheap flight tickets from Romania is huge.
Petra is an ancient city located in the south of Jordan. It served as an important trade center during the Ancient Roman Empire. The city is on the UNESCO World Heritage list and is recognized as an important tourist destination worldwide.
Petra can be reached via the Siq, a canyon carved out of high limestone cliffs. While walking along the Siq, you can see many ancient structures such as ancient tombs carved into the rocks, temples and water channels. At the end of the siq, you reach El-Khazneh (Hazne-i Hacer), one of Petra's most iconic structures and a temple carved into the rocks.
Petra was founded by the Nabatean people in the 4th century BC. When Petra came under the control of the Romans, the importance of the city increased and it became a stop on the trade route. Petra, along with other cities along the trade route, was part of the Silk Road and was connected to a trade network stretching from China to the Mediterranean.
One of Petra's most famous structures is El-Deir (Monastery), one of the largest monumental tombs in the world, with a height of 40 meters. There are also many ancient structures in the city such as theatre, baths, temples and cisterns.
Petra has also appeared in many Hollywood movies and TV series. He is particularly known for scenes inside El-Khazneh in the movie "Indiana Jones and the Last Quest."
As a result, the ancient city of Petra is an important tourist attraction that attracts visitors with its historical significance, unique architecture and natural beauties.
Is Mecca Actually This?
Dan Gibson is a Canadian writer and historian, known for his research on early Islam. In his book "The Sacred City," Gibson claimed that in the early days of Islam, he confused Mecca with the city of Petra in North Arabia.
As a result of his own research, Gibson argues that the word "Bacca" or "Becca" mentioned in the Qur'an actually refers to Petra and does not exist in the historical records and maps of Mecca at that time. Also, Gibson claims that the first qibla of Islam was also in Petra.
However, Gibson's claims have been subject to various criticisms. Some scholars say that Gibson's theses are not well-substantiated, historical sources indicate that Petra was not as important a trading center as Mecca in the pre-Islamic period, and there is archaeological evidence that Mecca existed in pre-Islamic North Arabia.
As a result, Dan Gibson's claim that the Mecca is Petra is still considered a controversial issue and is debated in various academic circles.
