This seems like it might be good for someone just getting into the hobby or someone deciding to switch to ELRS. I'm not into ELRS (I should be because of my budget😂) But I started with TBS Crossfire and have a Tango 2 radio and I'm happy with what I have. Thanks for another great review.

Great review of radio with interesting options. Overall looks good. Only disconcerting choice they made is not being able to adjust the gimbal tension. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but....👀 Is there any advantage to the larger receiver size as compared to the Happymodels? Besides easier to solder? Got a couple in for when my new tx16s comes in. Wow they are tiny. Happy flying everyone. 😎

Great review. Man this looks like a Tango 2. Interesting to hear you compare gimbals. I love the form factor of the BetaFPV Lite Pro 3, but the gimbals … oof! Wish you could swap them or buy a Pro Pro version with better gimbals.

I'm still leaning towards the zorro mostly because of the ag01 minis. I love them on my tx16s. Want to use as backup and small bag gorilla whooping. Definitely interested to see how it broke.

This looks like it was designed by the same guy who did the HDZero goggles. Overall it looks a decent controller, which could be truly great with Albert’s suggestions.

Thanks for this! So would you recommend version 3? So the Base 2.4G + ELRS 2.4G RF 500mw (2.4G antenna). I am a bit confused how the band option selections on their website along with the 4 versions listed.

I ordered the dual band antenna, does that mean it only comes with the 868/915mhz ELRS and I’d have to order a separate back for 2.4g

Hi! Thanks for the review. Does the commando 8 support trims adjustment? I can not see what button may be modifying the trims feature. I use that on wings in my Jumper T Lite but I was thinking to change to iflight, but it seems it is missing the feature. Could you please tell me if trims can be used? Thanks!

Albert, You say the CC2500 does D8 & D16. Does it also do other CC2500 protocols? I still have quite a few Hitec receivers in my older planes but this TX won't fit my Hitec full size module. Thanks.

The controller style radios need better grip on the handle parts. The plastic is cheap but a little grip with tape or something would be helpful in the field. Just a thought for an after market feature.

The grip on the back seemed sufficient enough. I guess if you grip putting pressure on the side, that might be an issue.

Love the look of this one. I like that it's lighter than the Zorro. Selling point for a small radio. Why have a small radio when it weighs a ton?

I was just debating seriously about this controller or the Tango 2. I know that ELRS is probably the future, making the Commando 8 a good option, but I like crossfire, so I ordered the Tango and later can add ELRS to it. Only thing about the Tango, is that it's very hard to find in stock. I got mine through Geprc in China and shipping is like 45 days. Makes me wonder if I made the right choice.

Any of them will work, you just need the external module adapter add-on.

I am looking for a back up to my TX16s.... looking at this one and the Jumper T lite V2.... would this one be the way to go? The only reason I am holding off is because of the internal batt's.

As a backup both are good radios. The battery life on the Commando8 will be better of course and also heavier because of it.

@@AlbertKimTV I have a four18650's laying around to use with the t lite... That is the only reason I am considering it as they are removable... and I will only be flying whoops with it. T16s will be used for long days flying the TP platform. Can the Commando's batt's be replace if they eventually go bad?

I would pick this up if it could be configured with dual band ELRS internally. I don’t care for external modules. Give me half decent wattage in both 2.4 and 900 so I can have one small controller for normal rigs and long range.

@@AlbertKimTV when I selected what I thought was your option 3 (option 4 on their page) none of the lower option select. If you add the nano module the price drops but the upper selection stays the same.

I would like this, but I'll pass if you can't open it up easily and swap gimbals for mode 1/3. And it doesn't look like they have an right hand throttle option. Thanks for the review.

There's a screw in the back to change it to right throttle. Easy to change

@@martindeschamps9856 for me it starts with the gimbals being spaced just right,sticks not two high and not to short,plenty of stick travel unlike the iflight,it has external batterie set up for the external batterie,much more quality in the build and does'nt feal cheap like the iflight,metal scoll wheel and the buttons for menue and all,screan is big enough too,worth its price!!

@@goaki2289 Too easy to knock by accident though methinks. My old radio is an i6X, I couldn't even reach the disarm switch without taking my monkey thumb off the stick. Zorro is just so much better, I can disarm instantly on contact now.
