I always enjoy your content and find it very informative. That said, my experience with this company and their expensive motion capture systems was sufficiently unpleasant that I will never purchase another product from them. Their customer service in the United States is non-existent, and my $1,000+ motion head is an expensive paperweight.

That's too bad to hear. My experience with them has been positive, but I know that I'm in a different class in dealing with these companies, too.

Surprised and glad to see this review. I just received my Gazelle TC9 a few weeks ago and am awaiting an Acratech Inc. Panoramic Head, which one levels rather than the tripod ... much easier for landscape photographers, especially when doing panoramas. Your fluid head, however, looks to be better for video work and studio work, where one does not constantly have to level the camera.
@DustinAbbottTWI3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you are enjoying the Gazelle. Great sticks, for sure.

Are you getting the Acratech Leveling Base and what size stud are you getting.
@KirkDurstonquest3 жыл бұрын
@@Rvalasek I received my Acratech Panoramic Head and it came with everything I need to mount it on the Gazelle. As for mounting the camera on the Acratech head, I had to order the Acratech camera base plate separately, and it came with the proper stud and Allan wrench to mount it on the camera. The base plate then mounts on the head. I didn't see one for the R5, so I ordered the one for the 5D Mk IV and it works fine.
@Rvalasek3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I see that the mounting stud is ⅜"-16 on the Gazelle TC9. I will be getting the Acratech Panoramic Head and Leveling Base in ⅜"-16. Are you going to get the Leveling Base. Thanks. Robert V.
@KirkDurstonquest3 жыл бұрын
@@Rvalasek The leveling base came included with the Gazelle tripod and the Achratech head just screwed down onto it. I did not need to purchase any other kind of leveling base, at least not for my purposes.

It's a nice tripod. Issue I have with it is on the mounting plate they put a bubble level. But if you have your head mounted you can't see it. Many heads now have a bubble level on them but not all so some of them you have to remove the head to level the ball which is a pain in the butt and defeats the whole purpose of the half ball. If they'd have mounted it off the side of the plate you could see it and use it all the time. FYI. I finally put a LeoFoto 75mm half ball and screw on it because they have a bubble level you can still use while the head is mounted. But you lose the ability for the quick button removal on the bottom screw as the Ifootage screw lock requires a longer screwed stem on the half ball. Leofoto screw works just fine on it though. But if you have to do all that, just buy a LeoFoto tripod. It has some other options that make it a nicer Tripod. But since I couldn't return the TC9 because I bought it direct from Ifootage, I had to come up with a fix. At least now I have about 6 Leofoto 75mm Half Balls with heads mounted so I can put any head I want on it pretty fast but I usually bring a LeoFoto set of legs as they're taller. I don't need the extra height, I needed to be able to put a leg down a hill off camber on the tripod and still have the tripod at a tall height.

Fair enough. I have noted that the spirit levels on some tripods are not always well thought out.

Hi Dustin, can the K7 be used on a monopod as well ? Like the iFootage C180 ?

Those seem really nice products. Thanks for the video! I'm actually looking for a super lightweight but high quality fluid head and for that the Gitzo GHF2W (or almost similar Swarovski CTH) seem nice. Though their listed weight, 1,3 lb, doesn't include the plate or the handle - so not quite that lightweight. But it would be really nice to have that adjustable counter balance system. Just tightening those models and using more friction isn't the same at all. But mine would be meant to be a more compact and damped optiontion for a gimbal head. Mainly for wildlife still photography. So the light weight is more important factor (if they work at least at some level).
@DustinAbbottTWI3 жыл бұрын
Their K5 might be a better choice for you: bhpho.to/3jJnKqv It's listed at 1.68 lbs, though I couldn't tell if that includes the plate and handle.

Dustin: what have you found to be best approach to film/still with an hybrid camera? Gimbal, fluid head, ball head, pan/tilt? Or just changing heads?
@DustinAbbottTWI3 жыл бұрын
I personally use a ball head the most, but I primarily set up static shots. If you want to move and tracking action with the head, a fluid head is the best.
@sallybillman35933 жыл бұрын
@@DustinAbbottTWI Thank you, Dustin, for the reply. So I am guessing then you do not switch back and forth between video to still? I might have to change my strategy and stick with one or the other on a particular assignment; which to this point, I am doing images and video for advertisement of the same subject matter.
@DustinAbbottTWI3 жыл бұрын
I do switch back and forth, but I'm not typically filming where I'm moving the tripod head around to follow action or to do pans. I do mostly static shots.
