Finally I can get back on the tools, first job, sort out the brakes on the little Ifor Williams trailer & then get the new heavy duty wheels & tyres fitted. This trailer has been, quite simply, amazing. I purchased it some 16 years ago, it travelled all over the UK & Europe before been stripped down & crammed into a container to New Zealand.
It's now covered at least 150,000 miles, been overloaded so many times I have lost count, it's been to the top & bottom of NZ many times, been crashed into by dumb car drivers.
I have noticed recently that the brakes aren't working too well & if you brake suddenly the trailer seems to slam into the back of the ute & then just lock up the brakes - not at all pregressive like the used to be.
So, in this video we dig into the brakes, I was hoping was just needing some adjustment....how wrong could I be!
The information in this video will be helpful to others with Ifor Williams trailers - the brakes should be adjusted on a regular basis - the Owner's Manual states every 1,000 miles - we all know that's not going to happen!!
Enjoy
Andy
