To think Lou Reed wrote something so timeless in 1970... his poem applies even more to today

Bee Vee You may laugh but if you listen to Iggy's BBC Music John Peel lecture that he gave on Oct 14, 2014 there is absolutely no doubt. Iggy is a very smart guy.

@@moniquedouglas2448 Spot on. At high school, he was known for his sheer intellectualism. I have been a fan of Ig for over four decades, and he is one of the very few rock stars I would like to meet. Apart from Tom Waits (who appeared with Ig on film), that's about it. That John Peel lecture was a real eye-opener for many people.

Rob Jones Thanks, Rob. I would probably add Jim Morrison, Frank Zappa, and Pete Townshend to your shortlist but Iggy definitely leads the pack for intellect.

Wow! He's looking good today! His sunken face has gone, I hope he's feeling good too! Iggy is the last of the Rock 'n' Roll Hero Triple Entente together with Lou Reed and David Bowie. Luckily there are some types of weed where you can't get rid of... Stay strong!

@@jonesy2111 Yeah, I knew he was a junkie from his days with the Stooges and I'm sure he was probably into coke for awhile into the early-mid 80s before he cleaned up. I'm glad he stopped when he did. It's when guys keep drinking, smoking and drugging after 40 that they are f'ed.

Who downvotes Iggy talking about his friend, Lou Reed?!?! It better be because of Kurt Loder.

Lou didn’t really like Iggy. In Lester Bangs most famous interview with Lou, Lester infers and rightfully so that Bowie juts tried to ape what Iggy and Lou did in the mid to late 60s. Lou came to defend Bowie and said what could he really have got from Iggy, he’s an idiot. I mean I don’t agree with this but that’s what he said. And I love Bowie but I somewhat agree with Lester. Iggy and Lou were the originals. Bowie was just a very good imitator who got rich with their creativeness. Through the late 70 Bowie found his own thing and was def a genius in his own right.

@@Ajlakritz Lou being Lou. Lou also trash talked Pete Townshend and then later in life did Pale Blue Eyes with him. Lou also said he liked the Beatles early on, and then said theyre garbage. But he covered John Lennon's songs. The only things i believe out of his mouth are things he says consistently (his love of andy, what he was trying to do with VU etc...), theres a lot of things hes bipolar about. Quote from Iggy “Look, Lou tolerated me....,I admired him and looked up to him as an artist. And that’s still what it is. And there were times when he could be quite decent and gracious. What I really miss is that there’s nobody that can do anything like he did. And it seems to be a lost art. Tremendous artistry,”
