Marty is the sound guy and everyone else on this call is a veteran game dev. The more cynical devs on the call are mocking Marty because he lacks the depth of knowledge about this game and game design in general. It's obvious to everyone else in the call why the speed runner is killing the marines, but suddenly Marty, the sound "designer", chimes in with "OMG gUyS TheYrE kiLLiNG the MaRINes?!?!?". This is probably pretty frustrating for the (actual) game developers on the call, who are eager to explore how the speed runner is breaking the game engine. Meanwhile, Marty is like 'GuYs Isn'T it SUCH a bUMMer hOw wE cAn'T hEar mY sCoRe BeCause tHe VoLumE is OFF?!?'

Yeah, I also noted that they said we were supposed to be able to see the Index the whole time, and descend into the nine circles of hell, or some big spiral thing, but they couldn't do it. I would have loved to have seen that, but hardware limitations made the library what it is, and the entire circular design of the level with multiple floors really added to the scale of the structure regardless. If I could mod this game, I wouldn't change a thing, except perhaps have a more obvious physical or light bridge barrier around the Index, so the Flood can't just grab a Banshee and take it. The fact that the developers made the encounters so different, with Rocket Flood, Carrier Forms, and so on, with so little to work with, and so many corridors is amazing. I played one of Bungie's older games; Pathways into Darkness, and the geometry of The Library is leaps and bounds ahead of the randomly generated, and not-so-random mazes they were doing with sprites. Also, the texture for the elevators was beautiful, the chapter transitions and title cards added some much needed humour, and Anniversary and the MCC ruined it; although at the same time, I am glad that I no longer get lost in the levels because of the arrows they borrowed from Assault on the Control Room/Two Betrayals. We could have used that on the Truth and Reconciliation. Then William C. Dietz played the level on Normal (?), and added so much more by just piecing together what was on the level, and creating tension and horror he excels at in the novelization. I also note that Bungie and 343i forgot the lesson imparted by the Library. The same 30 seconds of fun over and over and OVER and OVER and OVER and _over_ and _OVER_ again really does not bloody work. See Halo 4 and the Prometheans for examples.

I personally wouldn't say it's too long of a level, there are longer missions in ce. I think the library was a decent length but it's far too repetitive, and this is coming from someone who loves the library, actually think it's a fun mission personally. But I can admit it's tedious and repetitive.
@WaveOfDestiny
@WaveOfDestiny 3 жыл бұрын
I like the lenght of it because its gameplay is unique and fun and it's a nice break from the previous levels into something more challenging and survival oriented. The dance you have with the enemies is different, it's really important to decide wether to push or retreat based on rng and your resources and what target to kill first, it's really momentum based, in comparison to other levels. Some flood waves really get your blood flowing, although some walking sections are useless. Still better than the hell that Keys first part is. PoA is based on firepower and planning and tutorials Halo is based on area control on large scale T&R is based on skill, tactics and control on smaller scale SR is based on exploration and offensive approach AotCR is based on combat arenas and veichle combat 343GS is based on spooks and ambushes Library is based on momentum and survival TB is based on adaptation Keys is based on retreating and being careful of your position and spawns The Maw is based on constant forward pushing and finishing the fight

For anyone curious enough about why T&R stops early, it's because when you skip to the third level in the hanger bay you also skip a huge chunk of dialogue/ events. Later on when you turn Keyes hostile, you also prevent him from doing dialogue. This (somehow, I'm not sure about specifics) makes the game think that there is nothing left to do and it ends the mission early.

He's not using Anniversary mode to glitch out of the geometry, he needs to be in Anniversary mode to see anything when he does because in the original all you would see is grey

@@droprelease4820 not sure on the time stamp but a lot of the times he glitches into geometry and moves outside of the game space, you can see the graphics shift into a different colour scheme and texture maps. That’s because he has switched graphics to anniversary edition

uh if u watched the speedrun he's doing it specifically to "possibly" skip the glitching frames he gets in that section. Shedding a few seconds.

@@thrivingentrepreneur you're wrong; anniversary is the same game just a different coat of paint, no physics engine difference. He chooses to change the graphics because those textures don't exist in the original graphics

I would love to hear Garish explain all the speedrun tricks to the devs and have an explaination as to why certain exploits are there. That and to see the back and fourth
