My favorite part was when Nemona took you up to the lighthouse and said "Look at this beautiful landscape" as it panned over N64 graphics and those trees from banjo kazooie.

The Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy, Monster Hunter Rise and Stories 2, Astral Chain, Nier Automata, Persona 5, the Bayonetta trilogy and Metroid Dread are proof that theirs no excuse defending Pokémon Scarlet and Violet terrible graphics and performance on the switch.

Sad part is despite all the technical flaws, this game will still go on to outsell it’s previous titles which is why GameFreak won’t bother making a better game.

Pokemon no longer close their eyes when affected by Sleep in battle. It is very distracting to see eyes wide open with ZZZ popping up. Also, each Pokemon literally have a napping animation in the overworld, why couldn't they have use that?

6/10 is a mark of shame for such a beloved series. Hopefully Nintendo will get their act together with this IP.

When your character is the one trying to evolve you know theres a problem

are those things that could be resolved with a patch? If so, is the score considering it or just how the game is now? All of the flaws look like performance/common bugs; not a problem with the gameplay, which is far more challenging to fix.

This game was ment to come out before Pokemon legends arceus. PLA had better game play, your character can walk around while in battle. Catching and battling Pokemon system is way better . Fighting frenzy and boss Pokemon , dodging thier attacks. Even filling up the Pokedex was really unique in Pokemon arceus.

Great review. Hopefully the reaction to this game is a wake up call for game freak and the Pokémon company. They need to take a down year and completely retool this series from a technical level.

This is the Pokémon game. It has Pokémons, NPCs, mechanics. It has visuals too! Truly one of the games on the Switch.

Literally the only thing that runs smoothly in this game is the countdown timer in the tera raids, which continues to count down during lengthy animations, text dialogue, and random starring contests between your pokemon.

Hopefully they send out some updates to fix some of these issues before the holidays when a lot of people get the pokemon games

It’s nice to see someone putting just the right amount of attention on these issues that the games are clearly having, without losing themselves in hyping up the things that do work to such an extend that the bugs and glitches seem like no big deal in the grand of things. I’ve been watching my partner play Scarlet, and we’ve been grumbling in unison at the issues the game has. This is one of my most memorable reviews from you guys as a result; unlike Gamefreak themselves, you do not just sweep the issues under the carpet, claiming the problems don’t exist.

It's such a shame because SV is a blast to play...but such a slog due to performance issues. I'm thinking of turning off battle animations to hopefully make things fun slightly smoother.

One of the better reviews IGN has done in recent years. Especially regarding pokemon.

There’s such an interesting and beautiful world underneath the seven inches of shitty, morphing textures that makes it all the more sad. And Pokémon having discerning textures for fur, scales, etc. is awesome as well. But Game Freak needs to perform the mother of all miracles in washing away the crud they so readily shipped as being a completed game.

Finally, IGN wasn’t afraid to give a Pokémon the score it deserved.

It is common modern practice to release a game with many non-critical bugs, and to release updates later in order to fix those bugs.

Im gonna try the monster hunter series it's on sale currently. So thank you pokemon for letting me try something new.

The foundation for excellent Pokémon games has been laid since Legends Arceus came out last year and again with Scarlet and Violet. Gamefreak and Nintendo just need to put their greed and laziness aside and actually build on what they have.

Since Gamefreak has open up to do an open world Pokemon game, maybe it's time for them to venture into or collab with Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley like game but using Pokemon. I'm excited to scythe me some skiploom

The thing is people saying don’t buy the game if it’s bad and you want better, how can you know it’s bad without playing it and realising it can be better, it’s a catch 22, cause pokemon sells itself, but in this case it sold itself short, especially after Arceus.

Exept for the performance issues, this game was awesome. The final fight in the game was probably my favorite out of all of them (exept volo)
