@Galina Golikova watch Dimitri Rosa on KZfaq, best teacher of writing with oil paint on canvas using "brushes" not a knife and fingers. Igor became a "sculptor " using oil paints, not a writer. Painters who learn their own signature brushstrokes and have abilities to see and mix colors- it is their works who stand out...their signature brushstrokes... Igor used a knife and fingers for more that 20 yrs from this time seen here and this video- all of his videos weren't produced properly, the cameraman didn't film right, and Igor didn't know how to teach and explain to the student to write using brushes. In many he was the one who wrote the scene while the student stood to the side (as seen in the videos) and tried to understand. Igor promoted using the knife which is not easy and he was already with 20 yrs of experience behind him while he told students they should be able to produce the marks he would show them (he'd flick the knife- never explained how to actually manipulate the knife to achieve the marks- he expected the student to watch and do without explaining). He also exposed his students by promoting the use of using their fingers (knowing Cadmiums, leads, zinc and solvent are all cancer causing) ..many students are seen in the videos standing at the easel like idiots, sculpting using their fingers and paper towels the scene. Never learned how to write with a brush!! Today he posts trailers using the brushes, for full video lessons on his website. He uses brushes in today's lessons, however one can see that he doesn't have experience with the brush as of yet....his brushwork is new, like a student learning from the beginning.....he no longer uses his fingers. .. All those years wasted because of poor or no management to produce effective learning videos either for KZfaq or online purchase. So at his age today after all the long years of hard work- was wasted nothing to show for to gain monetarily. He can't use ONE video for a real lesson from thousands of videos he posted, not one is worth anything. He now has to write and produce effective learning videos for monetary gain, it appears his daughter has him working hard.....he was cheated of poor management and cameraman who didn't know how to film properly, Igor also didn't know how to explain to the student. He flicked the knife as the student stood to his side and he expected and promised the students they too could produce a painting like his. Again, he has 20 yrs under his belt of experience using the knife and fingers molding, sculpting paint. I wish him the best as he's working hard at his age today where he should be enjoying life. And his works should be on view and popular- BUT because his works are done with a painting knife( we call it a palette knife) and fingers- viewers know, professionals in the art community know his works, no one can look at his works and say "wow" masterful knowing it's not written using his signature brushstrokes. ..... It is the artist with their brushstrokes and ability to mix colors that their works stand out from the rest, as the Masters. As a conservative country, I'm surprised that many took his classes- the masters, and art community wouldn't except his works ...and it's a shame because he really did know how to create any scene and beautifully done, but looked at as a piece of work "produced " not " written"..... He never had good management all those years to produce videos for viewers to watch learn, follow along and or just watch for enjoyment. He also didn't know how to explain things, he only would point and point at the canvas and flick the knife expecting the students to make the same marks. His daughter appears to be snooty, and rude with her nose in the air. She most likely manages him today, as you can see the studio she had him buy, where she hung all or many of his works along side the building outside and such ...it looks like someone's attic in their home and set it up with their old canvases hanging around for people to view. She also has him doing the trailers for the full online lessons.....the setup isn't great.....people used him throughout the years taking his money, and he wasn't educated in business nor how to teach, it's unfortunate really. Wish him the best. To all you beginners out there, learn the basic fundamentals of color and composition, practice and experiment with brushwork, and mixing colors- remember all the workshops you attend are a waste of time and money. It is you and you only who can teach yourself how to write- one can watch other painters to possibly pick up tips, and such. But, you need to experiment with the brushes, your goal is to achieve your OWN signature brushstrokes. ...and your ability to understand color and mix color. During your journey, you will hit the phase where it is a ah ha moment and you've establish your own signature brushstrokes- it becomes second nature just line your handwriting is. Remember, many brushes achieve different mark making, experimenting will understand this, and manipulative the brush as well. Spend your time practicing, when they say practice is the best- why because you need that time, those experiences to achieve your own brushstrokes. Stop thinking you can write like the painter you spend money on and waste time attending their workshops. Find what "subject matter" you like and stick with it until you can write it a second nature.....find ONE artist that you like, meaning their brushwork and colors appeal to you when looking at their works. For example, if you like writing the sea, the ocean, find a good painter of the ocean and attending their class to learn from. Like Dimitri Rosa, on KZfaq he's really wonderful painter of the landscape and seascape as well as the cloud scape. So many keep attending too many workshops of different painters, and it's only going to confuse you, and waste your time. So many painters in America have workshops, they charge 350.00 - 500.00 for a workshop it ridiculous- and all they do, is stand at their easel giving a lecture about everything thet learned from books such as Carlson landscape and Edgar Payne's composition. Then they setup a easel with lights dim, and so many students can't even see what he's doing, they're too cheap to have monitors for their audience. It has become a scam, and money making business in the states. The painters know the bigger influential people and they all help eachother, they have made it where plein air painting is so expensive, the painters developed plein air boxes, charge from 300- 600 dollars!! the art community big cheeses have made it to where one has to pay big money to write outside in nature where the land is free!!! They have taken up all the famous landmarks for landscape painters and have the parks and such- charge to stand on fresh land to paint!!! It's a big money making scam. Terrible, don't waste precious time. You are the only one who can teach and become yourself- with color and signature brushstrokes. Best wishes you all.

@D Shepard Checkout Dimitri Rosa on KZfaq...in Russian, but he's such a great teacher and his setup you'll understand him. Also checkout KevinOilPainting on KZfaq, he also has technique lessons and full land, seascape lessons available on his website. So many beginners learned from him check out reddit, many have become full time artists and sell on esty and or their own websites. Reddit there's many reviews and photos of students works. Kevin also has a FB community page to show your work, and ask questions within the community, he also posts your works if you followed along with his KZfaq video each video prior to the one posted. A great way to start as a beginner, is to find a subject that interests you and find ONE artist and follow while your learning. Learn the basic fundamentals of color and composition, and practice and experiment with brushwork. You want to learn your own signature brushstrokes and color mixing ..its that painters signature brushstrokes and ability to mix colors that makes their work stand out. When they say practice, it's to find your own brushstrokes, and too learn the ways to manipulate the brush/s to make marks... In time you'll find that ah ha moment where you've established your signature brushstrokes and it becomes second nature. Like when you learn how to write... Painting is writing with brushes using oil paint on canvas to tell your story.... Is a good way to look at it.... It can be intimidating for beginners, if your beginners out there, while at the easel, just think of it as your writing with the brush...you manipulating the brush, experiment with it to achieve different mark marks... This is why it's good to watch other painters, don't confuse yourself with too many, find one or two that appeals to you, and study whilst watching their brushwork.... Painters are creating 3D abstract shapes to appear as (specific objects) like a tree. Don't think of it as a tree....think of it as a shape. Painting clouds, think of 3D you want to form a 3D shape to appear as clouds....your painting abstract shapes, not clouds. Don't make that shape symmetrical, say a pine tree, cut it in half, and look at the left and right, eachside must appear different, that applies to everything else within the landscape. .. You have that brush and want to paint a pine tree, nope, think "of the shape your going to make it" Don't have pine trees with all the ferns zig zag down the side looking same, Always have your lines- with bumps, never straight is a good way to remember. Understand Carlson's landscape book and Edgar Payne's composition, and best book on color is Helen van Wyk- color recipes. Everything you need to know about color in easy demonstration and terms, book is found online no more than 15.00 at times the price goes up to 50- 100, just keep looking it will go down if that is case. Carlson book is like 12.00 Edgar is pricey and fluctuates from 40- 100 as well. Dollars Search online there's many blogs that talk about his book with photos of the many composition thus no need to buy book. These three books will cover everything you need to understand, and will always refer back to them. Carlson may take 2- 3 times for some to understand it, once you get it, your view of seeing will change. Best wishes you all. Hope this helps someone out there. Don't fall for the many work-shops and don't waste time and confuse yourself attending workshops from different artists, they take your money and copy their dialogue using words, ideas concept from Carlson and Edgar books. Believe it, seen so so many.
