Despite him always taking the healer role, Alphinaud is the worst healer to take in any trust/duty support. He's a Sage and never puts Kardia on the tank. In Endwalker, he ALWAYS dies against Hydaelyn without fail (I know it's scripted what each character does in the trial but still). When doing trusts, you have 3 healer options - Alphinaud, Urianger and G'raha Tia. G'raha is just a generic White Mage with no special abilities. Urianger and Alphinaud both have unique abilities for themselves that you can't normally get on Sage/Astrologian yet somehow, G'raha's basic White Mage is much better than Alphinaud's custom Sage. This was the same in Shadowbringers where Alphinaud was an "Academician" (basically a custom Scholar) and had even more custom abilities. Urianger is by far the best healer to take. He has an AoE instant death spell but if the instant death doesn't trigger, it inflicts heavy and slow instead.
