Volkswagen makes some of the safest cars out on the road. The Jetta is especially safe.

Agree, i have a 1997 jetta, and still strong today, i had minor problems with the engine, and a serious one that was easily fixed, once a teen hit me in the rear, and his brand new chevy had a big damage in the front, while mine got only a scratch, vw great car maker...

This is Jetta. Bora is the older VW sedan model (99-2004) and Jetta is the new one (2005-). Bora was marketed in Americas as Jetta and in Europe as Bora. The new model has only one type marking, which is Jetta (both in Europe and Americas). I had -99 VW 1.6 Bora and now I have 07 1.9TDI Jetta. Great cars both.

Go close the door on these cars. It's very solid, and that's not by accident. I have a 2006 Jetta GLI, and I feel quite safe driving it. They weigh a bit (I think the current Jetta is around 3200 lbs.) but you can definitely see where that weight goes.

@Motorfordtoyota Actually Volvo was rated by numerous sources and magazines as the safest car maker in the world, followed by Mercedes-Benz.

@drewkog Actually I think Subaru was declared the safest auto maker. Dont quote me. But I think, along with Honda, I think it is one of the few makers to have a best pick in every modle. Once again, dont quote me though.

Some jackass crashed into my wifes 2008 Jetta S while i was stopped in traffic on the Freeway driving home from work. Totaled it! I now have Bulging Discs in my back as a result. Imagine what I would have had to go through if I had been in any less safe a car! thanks Volkswagen!

The Renault Marque is among the safest in the world. They are well known to be unreliable though - electric system failure engine probs etc...
