After installing my new set of IIIPro E4 four piston brakes onto my Santa Cruz 5010 v5 for a little test/review session... I put this short "Review/First Impressions" video together for y'all. To give you a quick overview of the brakes and my initial thoughts on them before delving into a more in depth long term review.
These are well and truely a "budget" brake set. Availible from Amazon, e-bay and Ali express for a very good price. But the (at least in initial contact) seem to be a vrey well constructed and aesthetically pleasing product. Construction seems to be af a good quality. The brakes function very well and everything works as it should.
So let's see how things progress into the future with them.
So... I hope you enjoy the show.

No instructions in the box, just random nuts bolts and bits. Just like Sram and Shimano then. Every time I buy their crap I need an internet connection and half an hour to search for the information on their website before finding a DIY installer video on KZfaq to tell me how to do it.

Great video Phil, I was looking forward to your review. As always an excellent edit mate. I just pulled the SRAM "clips" off the brakes that came on my bike and swapped them over to the e4's. The fit isn't perfect - by that I mean it's a bit finickety but once the bolt it through, it fits together well. It has done the job well... And I have had no issues ...

The noise is probably coming from the pads, respectively the cooling fins on them. The pads that came on my Shimano XT brakes also had these fins and they made the exact same rattling sound. Changed the pads to a set without cooling fins and the noise is gone.

Late response, but for anyone else with the same question: I've heard that shimano m820 pads fit (the ones that they use for saint, zee, slx, xt, etc). Can't confirm just yet but the shape looks to be the same, and that pad seems to be a common choice for random brakes (surron, talaria, random aliexpress brakes, etc.)

Guys, does anybody know why there are two brake bolts on the caliper that both if removed leak mineral oil? I bled mine, that if you hold the hydraulic cable with caliper dangling I used the furthest bolt for the bleed ..
@TrailTales

OK... I haven't had to bleed yet, so not looked into this. But I'll get to that soon enough. But thatnx for the heads up on the bolts. How did your bleed work out??
@dalegreenaway
@dalegreenaway Ай бұрын
The front brake is solid, I bled the brake and even better and sharper with resin semi metallic brake. The rear brake the pre fitted hose to the back brake caliper had a very small leak, that was why my brakes kept squeaking. On the caliper there are two bleed screws, I think both need to be bled to get the calipers pushing outwards equally, as I noticed the pistons on the one side push out better than the other..... Find this odd and I may be wrong... But why are there the same bleed ports on caliper both with the same fitting...... Going to give it a go later and refit the hose olive etc and rebleed all screws and bleed ports. Will let you know.

@@TrailTales they must be linked, as when I drained the one screw and removed all the oil, no oil came out of the other screw. They have to be connected like all other brands. Refitted the rear hydraulic cable having trimmed it, used a new olive and hose end spike thingie. Cleaned with degreaser and isopropyl and bled, brakes feel solid as before. Hope no more contamination. After front brake bleed yesterday, the front brake is beastly sharp literally locks and you skid lol. Added a new set of pads after cleaning rotors, degreaser and isopropyl and sandpaper.... Let's see! The squeak was bloody annoying. Hope it's gone now.
