Let us introduce to you the world of ‘Eternity’. 지구에서부터 먼 우주, 지구와 평행한 시간을 가지고 있는 행성 아이아(AIA). 아이아에는 지구인과 비슷한 모습에 아이안(AIAN)들이 살고 있었다. 그리고 행성 아이아에 중심에는 아이아의 찬란한 문명과 아이안의 행복을 지켜준 에너지원이 존재한다. 아이안들은 그것을 붉은 꽃이라 불렀다. 붉은 꽃을 통해 아이안들은 행복한 삶을 살아갈 수 있었다. (붉은 꽃은 아이안들 에게는 심장과 같은 것이었다.) 하지만, 어느 날 붉은 꽃이 점점 시들어 가게 된다. 엄청난 문명과 기술을 자랑했던 아이인들이지만 점점 시들어 가는 붉은 꽃을 막을 수는 없었다. 수년간 노력했지만 그 이유를 알지 못했다 그러던 어느 날 우연히 발견한 지구에서 지구인들이 서로를 사랑하고 생각하는 마음이 붉은 꽃을 다시 피우게 할 수 있다는 것을 알게 된다. 아이안들은 지구인들에게 사랑을 받을 방법을 생각하고 지구인들과 직접 소통하기 위해 22명의 아이안들을 선별하게 된다. 그중 11명의 소녀들이 이터니티라는 팀명을 받았고, 5명의 멤버 여름, 수진, 혜진, 서아, 민지가 첫 번째 소통의 임무를 맡아 I'm Real로 데뷔 무대를 갖는다. AIA, a mysterious planet-- distant and parallel to the Earth. AIA is inhabited by aliens called AIAN, who resemble humans on Earth. In the center of AIA lies the Red Crystal Flower, which protects AIA’s glorious civilization and happiness with its vibrant energy. Thanks to the flower, AIANs were able to preserve their youths and lives for eternity. However, the flower started to wilt. Not even the greatest intelligence and technology was enough to confront this crisis. After years of struggle, the AIANs came across Earth and found out that the key to restoring life and energy was ‘love’. In order to save their beloved civilization, AIA elected 22 agents who would learn the language of love from the humans. [I’m Real] During their debut, Yeorum, Sujin, Hyejin, Seoa and Minji carry out their first mission: to signal AIAN’s appearance to the human civilization in hopes of communicating with them. - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 펄스나인 주식회사는 AI 기술을 가지고 소통하는 기술 기업입니다. The fact that the title of this song is "I'm real" makes me want to laugh 😂 dunno why...

This is one of the scariest things I've ever seen, honestly, from both a human and musician standpoint. I don't even know where to start with this. Their faces are unnerving on so many levels. They look real, but still wrong, and in a way that while you can't quite mark them as human, you can't peg them as a robot or artificial either. They're on that fine line between too much life and not enough. In short, robots are more perfect/precise, less movement. And humans are obviously much more expressive. The lips form what look like words, the eyebrows go up and down, and you can almost see emotion in the expressiong, but there's no independent movement that you associate with humans. The eyebrows don't move independently, and they're too large and dark. The mouths and lips on half of the girls are too large or too wide (or both). And how the bodies move... On some levels, it's okay. It looks real enough in most of the single shots, but in any of the places where they're not doing the chorus, like the "rap" parts, there's that lack of expression or emphasis. And the fact that they're so expressionless in the wide/group shots works against them, too. If that's what you're going for, then that's great. They look fake. But not quite fake enough. As for the song... I don't understand what they're saying. The proposed English of the chorus is laughable. Even though I know the general idea of what they're saying, the words are a mess. There's no enunciation; the vowels are poorly formed, the consonants slur together. And from what Korean I can understand, that's just as bad. This should be a simple thing to achieve, but it feels like it was overlooked in the final product. If these were real people, I'd say they needed to go back and train a while longer or they're at risk of being ripped apart by netizens. And the song itself is so bland. Human voices modulate on average between five different notes, with different volumes and nuances, and those generally translate over into songs, whether it be in the raps, the vocal parts, or in the overall sound of the song. And there's none of that here. It's not quite monotone, but it's kind of a background drone that loses your interest when it goes on for too long.

It was shocking. It was realistic but the interaction with camera is missing. The facial expression as well does not correspond with the singing as well. Honestly, it somehow irritates. Overall, it's okay. Still, it creeps me out. The voice must be clear, audible and pleasant as well.

People are literally bashing this to hell and back (and well to be honest, it is quite creepy) but they are answering everything so professionally and continuing to improve with the feedback. Ps:- Although no filter is the objectively better song and one I listen to quite frequently, I always come back to this gem every once in a while to have a good laugh and enjoy their soulless looks and voices. I actually think the song itself is pretty good. If the voices were cleaner and mixed a bit better it would be amazing. I also think the lyrics are VERY interesting. Because AI is singing them I feel the lyrics become very sad. To me it seems as if they are very desperate to be real. The Actual visuals of the members could use quite a bit of work though.

This debut is not flat-out horrible, so people need to stop overreacting. It's an experimentation project, meaning it was never meant to be perfect. There is always room for improvement, and the best part about it is that Pulse9 is able to independently realize that they can work better to make the future comeback a step above this debut. There are both positive and negative elements about "I'm Real". Most of the outfits match the different settings the girls are in. They're easy on the eyes and not overly clashing. Their casual look makes it refreshing to me because I honestly can't remember when last I saw a debut with idols that weren't wearing flashy clothes and lines of jewelry. The instrumental to the song is really nice. It's a soft pop sound that remains constant throughout the song, aside from when the rap segments start. I find it catchy and memorable. Safe for a debut song, but at the same time, enjoyable. The first rap of the song is my personal highlight. It's clean and natural sounding for the most part. Though there is some shakiness with the voice, it genuinely seems like they had a real person come in and rap as opposed to using a voicebank. The use of deepfake for the AI team is interesting, but it needs a lot of work. I would suggest not having a computer-generated face over actual people dancing and moving around in the MV, mostly because it comes off as creepy and unnatural. Having the entire body computer-generated would keep it consistent and less robot-like. If Pulse9 is going to continue using deepfake, then they need to spend more time fine-tuning it. For the majority of the MV, the girls would often look to the side rather than where the camera should be, and their focus sometimes drifts off as they're singing. Plus, I'm pretty sure the deepfake is the reason why the girls can't fully turn around, which is why I initially suggested not using it. But again, just some tuning would help. Speaking of tuning, the vocals need a lot of it. They don't blend well together, some coming off as trying to sound higher than others, and some sounding amateurish (as if they brought in girls who had little training with singing to provide the vocals). Along with the deepfake, this is what should be checked in on often. And about consistency, the MV lacks it entirely. Sure, the outfits match the backgrounds of where the girls are at, however, we have lore about Eternity that doesn't get portrayed at least once. Pulse9 says that Eternity consists of aliens that resemble humans who came to Earth in an attempt to introduce the first of their kind to humanity. There isn't any story or telling of that in this MV. We just see the girls singing and dancing, and it doesn't quite match up with the lore provided for us. Looking at this MV, I can certainly tell the girls are not human, but aliens from another planet and trying to carry out a mission? It's not visible here at all. And that's really about it. Again, Pulse9 knows they can improve. Giving feedback might help them instead of just saying "it's creepy, it's scary". I'm looking forward to seeing how they can improve with Eternity. There's a lot they can do with this idea of a completely AI group. Hoping for the best in the future!
