Amazing honest review! Im 6'5 and was looking at this chair with expectations to fit my height, but wont even waste more time in this one. Im starting getting burned of research because all the tall and good chairs are super expensive. Nothing for max 400-500

Another thing to consider with the fake leather that several of these chairs come with is that they start to peel pretty fast. I came from an IKEA "Millberget" chair that I had for many years, but the fake leather was worn out in several places after about 2-3 years.

I think aside from supporting, non-limiting (like only below 180cm people) backrest, finding a seat that isn't too hard, too soft, or annoying in another way, is the hardest thing. And even if it's okay at first, it probably will be bad after just a little over a month. That is why I now routinely consider buying a special cushion to take my mind off that issue when looking for a chair. The cushions I tried all did their job pretty well.

I think you're the only one had the same experience that I'm having with that chair and this conforts me. I'm considering switching to the old-boy Markus or something else, I tried it time ago but I can surely remember that was a better experience than Jarvfjallet. Yep, I'm disappointed too and that's frustrating for me because I think it has a great potential.

I have the same problem. I am looking for years for a chair with a proper seat cushion (and all the rest of features like proper arms high back etc). If the seat was better I would buy this one.

I compared MARKUS and JÄRVFJÄLLET and either is not good for me (187 cm and 110 kg, muscular). MARKUS: + when you tilt back not only the backrest reclines but also the seat reclines as well + the armrests are metal and do not move, which is better when you want to use them to push against when standing up from the chair + the seat is thick and comfortable - you cannot adjust the headrest and it is too low for me - it ends where my ears are and pinches the back of my skull - the color is greyish - if you sit in shorts the seat will have spots from your skin, the seat should either be leather or velour JÄRVFJÄLLET: + the headrest is adjustable for height, in the highest position it sits perfect for my height + it is real leather so you can sit on it in the summer, when you are sweaty, or without a t-shirt and it wont leave any permanent marks on the leather + it has a lower back pillow that can be adjusted for height, quite comfortable + the seat can be moved about 10 cm forward or backwards, which for tall people is useful (you can add some cm's to the seat depth) - the seat is thinner than Markus and you can feel the hard metal underneath when you sit down - when you tilt back only the backrest reclines, the seat stays in the same position = you either start to slide down or your back begins to hurt as he said in the video - the armrests are plastic and flimsy, probably will break if you push against them when standing up or pulling yourself up on the chair - the armrests have a blocking system for height but not for front/rear position so you constatnly move them when you rest your arms on them IT IS ANNOYING AS HELL I agree with Donmarkon all the way, JÄRVFJÄLLET is not worth it unless you are small, thin and dont spend too much time in the chair. Otherwise, for the price IKEA charges for it - no go for me. If I had to choose 1 it would be Markus since it better for my body type even though the headrest is too low for me. If they had Markus in black + headrest adjustment for up and down I wouldnt even blink and get the Markus over JÄRVFJÄLLET which is extremely overpriced in my opinion - for what it offers.

My height is 180 and my weight is 59 and I am facing a slight problem in my lower lumbar. I have constant pain even though I went to the doctor and I do not have a major problem in my lower back. I am confused which one to choose! The most important thing for me is the comfortable lower back support. If Marcus is comfortable for someone of this height and width, then there is no need to buy the newer version, this Jav.. What do you advise me? I also have a note that I prefer the seat of the chair to tilt with the backrest, because I cannot sit all the time in the 90 position.

i trust you i order a marcus to day i take the light gray/white. i spent 8 to 10 H at my computer evry day so i think marcus is good for me

Agree 100%. I don't understand how ikea thought it was a good idea to sell this with that horrible cushion. I would rather pay more but get a comfortable cushion. Right now what I do is use a pillow to make it acceptable.

I'm 170cm tall and 70kg weight, in this situation I should buy JÄRVFJÄLLET or Markus? However I don't spend a lot of time on computer, I usually spend 2-3 hours daily.

Thank you very much for the video i went to IKEA and tried the chair. I agree with all your comments. The back support is the best for me since i am a tall guy. However, the cushion is so so so bad. After a while of sitting on it i started feeling that i am on a wooden chair. If they fix the cushion this would be the best chair in the world with this price point

Very nice review! And quiet dissapointing tbh... I tried JÄRVFJÄLLET and MARKUS head to head in the shop today and I'm still not decided. They have a sale actually so JÄRVFJÄLLET is even 10€ cheaper than MARKUS which is tempting. I am 188 cm tall and despite I like the MARKUS' looks and reclining motion better, the lumbar support just feels too agressive and weird (and the head support is too low for me). JÄRVFJÄLLET on the other hand feels great at those aspects. I think I'm going to give it a shot and then after few hours I'll be telling myself I should have taken your advice :D
