A few (I guess already 5 or so) years ago I bought one Knagglig crate at IKEA, with the idea of making a few of them myself. I still haven't done it. Now you gave my the inspiration to pick up this little projact. Thanks for sharing the video.

Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it. I got busted pretty quick🤣 she already knew I was up to something. I usually don't stand behind her and film😉 and I forgot to remove one of the lumber yard tags with the dimensions for 2x4. But she liked them, so I guess I won🏆

It's a bit funny - you've made a lookalike for an IKEA lookalike of a standard bottle crate - I've got a couple dozen of them for free from my local bottle shop.

🤣 Yeah, you are right! That is funny. That is really nice of them to do! I wish I had a place like that. All I can hope for is some free pallets or some cut-offs from my lumber yard, so I have to make them myself😆 is it a local brewery or a liquor store?

I bet your crates are way better built and higher quality than IKEA, but... Did it compensate to buy the wood, saw it, and build the crates yourself? - I mean, not to mention the gas you used to drive to the point you bought the wood from, the price of the wood, the time you spent projecting/measuring/building it, the electricity you used and the wear of the tools you used?🙃 Great job by the way!💯✌😉

Thank you so much😁 whether it was cost and time-effective, to build the crates myself is up for discussion! Here is the breakdown: Wood cost: $2.6/meter = $12.48 Hardware: $1-3 Fuel cost to and from lumber yard: 2 - 3$ Time spent driving and building: 3 hours, (1/2 - 1 hour not being productive). Electricity cost: Estimated at $1-2, maybe. Electricity is very expensive here! Wear and tear on tools: ? Don't know how to calculate, $1-5 = $19 - 28 The satisfaction of building something myself: priceless If I were to go to Ikea Crates: $20×3 Fuel: $20 - 35 Meatballs at IKEA: $15😆 Time: 3 hours (1 hour to, 1 hour to walk through IKEA, 1 hour Back) Assembly: 15 - 30 min = $80 - 110 My conclusion is that it is worth building the crates if you already have a tabel saw. As you can see, $19 - 28 is much less than $80 - 110. But a tabel saw like mine will sett you back $250 -300. For me, it would take approximately the same amount of time going to Ikea or building them myself, but it depends on how far away from Ikea you live. I'd much rather spend the time creating and building something than walking around hundreds of stressed out🐑, on my day off 😁

@@CarlsCreativeCorner «The satisfaction of building something myself: priceless» - I agree! I like to do it myself as well. But often i lack the time and worse than that: the resources for it.

DIY projects bring such a sense of accomplishment. Time and resources can be tough, but even small projects can bring that satisfaction. I sometimes source materials from the scrap pile at the lumber yard. They often give it away for free. Keep at it!

Why does your front door open outwards?
@CarlsCreativeCorner
@CarlsCreativeCorner 2 ай бұрын
😄 Mainly because we bought the house that way 👍 but since you mentioned it, there are several reasons as to why one would get outward-opening frontdoor. It is not that uncommon here. Space-saving: They don't take up interior space when opened, which can be advantageous in small entryways or areas with limited room. Preventing obstruction: Outward-opening doors can't be blocked by objects inside the building, making them easier to open and close without obstacles. Better security: Some argue that outward-opening doors provide better security because they're more difficult for intruders to kick in. Protection from weather: When it's windy, outward-opening doors can be easier to close securely, preventing them from being blown open. Hope this helps😅 But there are just as many reasons why one should choose an inward-opening door. So which is superior, I don't know.🤙

@@CarlsCreativeCorner "Preventing obstruction: Outward-opening doors can't be blocked by objects inside the building, making them easier to open and close without obstacles." This is why canada has them opening INSIDE. You know the expression, snowed-in?
@CarlsCreativeCorner
@CarlsCreativeCorner Ай бұрын
Yeah😆, that problem exists here in Norway also. 🇳🇴 I got my entryway under roof inside my carport, so it's not an issue for me. But I've seen many videos this winter about that🤣 So there you have a good reason why one should not choose an outward-opening front door.
