If they can't respect a legend like Casillas they won't respect anyone. I'm a United fan and it makes me sick seeing Ronaldo get the treatment he gets because I know that if he came back to United every single fan would be overjoyed and even if he had a bad game we would be singing his name in Old Trafford.

Casillas isn't accepted as one of the top 3 best goalkeepers of all time not even top 5. And yes, i can name a load of goalkeepers who are miles in front of him. a few examples would be Lev Yashin, dino zoff, Gordon banks, Schmeichel but of course there's many more.

So, yes, he is one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time. 1.85m isn't necessarily short, but keepers like Buffon and Courtois got 10cm and 14cm on him. In the Netherlands 1.85m is the minimum standard for a goalkeeper. There is a story of a 10 year old who wasn't accepted, because they did some technology wizardry on his bones and found out he'd be 1.84m at most.

Fabian Arredondo Madrid respected him but did not like him because of inner politics, the famous farewell that often is seen by players is done by the act of brotherhood..casillas was far from that, great goalkeeper but his length of Madrid was from his constant attachment to management and not his peers. I think people make the mistake thinking that respect and love is the same but it's not.

It is true. He was past his prime. In 2014 you could see quite a few mistakes made by him in Madrid and Spain. But that does not justify the way he was treated on his exit. This guy was the only thing tying the new generation to the old one who dominated and won champions leagues. Captain of club and country and legend and a rolemodel for anyone. Absolute disgrace to see him like that on his last few months.
