@@yacineyaker7485 I think it hits differently because we weren't really expecting it, we all knew Unohana and Shunsui had bankai from the start just not what they bankai were like, but from Ikkaku no one saw it comming

Ryūmon Hōzukimaru (龍紋鬼灯丸, Dragon Crest Demon Light): Its two main weapons are a Chinese Monk's spade and a standard guandao. Both have a traditional horsehair tassel at the hilt, and a long, cylindrical weight for a pommel. The pommels are connected by a heavy chain to the center section, which resembles an axe blade, with a parallel handle forged into the blunt end and a dragon crest on one side of the blade. Ikkaku's Bankai, like his Shikai, is quite unusual. Aside from the increase in power, his Bankai does not offer any special abilities or special defensive properties, but releases some Reiatsu, which starts to grow in strength. Ikkaku treats Hōzukimaru different than other Bankai users treat their Zanpakutō, for they just let theirs slumber and use it when they want to do Bankai. If he forces it to awaken suddenly, cutting the enemy and not getting cut becomes a lot harder to handle than it should be, so his Bankai gets increasingly more powerful as the fight drags on. After he activates his Bankai, Ikkaku's Reiatsu rises as the dragon crest slowly fills with crimson dye. It fills faster when he spins Ryūmon Hōzukimaru with the center handle. Ikkaku states his Zanpakutō is very lazy in battle and needs to be woken up through causing or receiving injury. When the crest is completely filled, Ryūmon Hōzukimaru is at its full power. Personal Note: Most fans think this Bankai is awesome but I see it as completely impractical and can only wonder if it would be a lot more useful if Ikkaku actually devoted himself to mastering it rather than wasting energy hiding it in an attempt to avoid promotion. === Volcánica (ボルカニカ, Borukanika; Spanish for "Volcanic", Japanese for "Volcanic Beast")

To me it was never a full bankai, or at least he didn't control it properly, because that mechanics of slumber and the way it is so fragile doesn't make sense to me

@@carlosbeltran804 10 years of dedicated training to master a bankai. I get the feeling Ikkaku made the same mistake that Ichigo and Renji made in mastering their bankai before using it.

@@jackwitt7430 yeah, i can think of at least 7 characters who didnt master their bankai properlly before using it in the series, but some of them just dont care to use it that much or they were too cocky to stop and train with it

Have you noticed that Grimmjow is voiced by the same VA as Sukuna from JJK, Jun'ichi Suwabe? I think its neat, especially with some of the similarities in their character.

Being from New Mexico I personally loved the touch with using Spanish for the arrancar/espada. Think having the soul reapers using flash step and the arrancar using sonido (sound/beat for non-speakers) was probably one of the better moments cause it showed they were fast, but not as fast as us (viewer perspective being that of Ichigo, so soul reaper).

Not really, in the manga he never used it again, but in the anime (with fillers and movies) we were able to see Ryumon Hozukimaru 3 more times.

it's not really a spoiler since its not like it was ever specified what type of menos each arrancar (besides the fodder) was but grimmjow's last form shown before becoming an arrancar is an adjuchas , we do not know if he evolved since then lol

I always feel conflicted when it comes to Grimmjow. On one hand, he's awesome and on the other I want him dead for hurting Rukia who is my favorite Bleach character and one of my favorite anime characters in general. === A Shinigami Zanpakuto draws out their wielder's potential and manifests it while an Arrancar's seals it away until released. Essentially the two are mirror images of one another. === I'm sure his reckless abuse of his Zanpakuto, especially it's Bankai, won't have consequences for Ikkaku, no sir. Let's just be enjoy the amazing show and ignore the idiotic recklessness on display.
