Here is a First Look at a new scope from a new company: SAI 6 1-6x24 FFP
alnk.to/e70aHsZ
It is a good quality Japanese scope with an unusual reticle, so a lot of the focus of this video is indeed on the reticle.

It's been a while since your review. I'd be happy, If you could answer my following question, please? I am currently thinking of buying either the Delta Stryker HD 1-6x24 or the SAI 6 1-6x24. I have a problem with BDC reticles because they only fit for a certain ammunition and barrel length. On the other hand, I don't like SFP reticles because they only work in one resolution (usually max) and I don't want to convert MILS when stressed. But most importantly, I am looking for optical quality at a reasonable price! Edge sharpness, distortion-free imaging and brightness are important to me. With this in mind, which of the two scopes would you choose? Thanks a lot!
@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics 2 жыл бұрын
That's a tough call. I am not a big fan of BDC reticle either, so I have been trying to convince the folks at SAI to add a small mrad tree reticle option, but no luck so far. The choice between Stryker and SAI6 really comes down to what's more important for you: up close or distance. On 1x, I think Stryker is the faster scope. However, once you extend the distance, SAI6's FFP reticle with wind holds works better. Optically, both are pretty good. Maybe a slight edge to SAI6.
@uwe6102
@uwe6102 2 жыл бұрын
@@DarkLordOfOptics Thanks a lot for your reply. For really close range from 5 to 25 m, I‘d go for an offset mounted Aimpoint. So the scope is used for all distances after 25 m. The wind holds are great on the SAI, but it still has this awful BDC. Furthermore, I suggest a FFP makes sense for shooter who reach out most of the time 100 m + but for closer range and around the 100 m mark a SFP is a bit faster and you also have the better price point. Which means a FFP reticles would make more sense on a 1-8 or 1-10, since you‘d probably use it on longer distances.

@DarkLordOfOptics

Durability is hard to say until a significant number of SAI scopes make it out there. Razor Gen2 has been around for a while and we know it is very robust. Optically, they are pretty close to each other. Razor probably has a slight edge on low power.

@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics 3 жыл бұрын
@@pd5156 This particular BDC is designed for the 62gr ammo, I believe. In practical terms, nearly every BDC out there is either designed for 55 or 62gr 5.56, since these scopes are viewed as general purpose AR-15/M4/M16 scopes. The VAST majority of shooting is done with those. Interestingly, if you are careful about sight in, bullet drop between commonly used 55gr, 62gr and 77gr is very similar out to 650-700 yards. The differences in wind holds are fairly significant, but the reticle in SAI6 has mrad dots in the tree, so that is sorta accounted for.

@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics Жыл бұрын
With any BDC reticle you will need to know how to use a ballistic calculator to make sure you know what the holds are with your ammo and in your environmental conditions. It is generally set up for 62gr SS109 out of a 14.5" barrel out to 500 yards. With 77gr, it will be a little different, but perfectly manageable.

Does the SAI6 have an etched zero line like the Sig for alignment with your mount? I’ve picked up a Geissele 1.93 30mm 1x6 (vortex sopmod mount) that will pair nicely with either. Did the Sig come with any tenebrex covers/caps? Thanks again!

@@adams9982 Sig did not come with caps. SAI comes with Tenebraex caps and a honecomb killflash. I did not pay too much attention to alignment lines on the body of the scope, but I do not think SAI6 has those.

It seems both have many pro’s and a few cons. I also like the SIA 6 reticle and the fact that the makers of Elcan are behind this scope. For all I know the same company could be making both of the them and just beefed up the Sig internals for the military. The Sig with added caps is definitely going to be 3-400 more based on what I’ve seen out there on cost. Thanks again

@DarkLordOfOptics
@DarkLordOfOptics 19 күн бұрын
That's a bit of a tough call. SAI6 is a little less money and the reticle is simpler to use. PLxC reticle (FFP version) is polarizing. Some people love it. Some hate it. I am sorta in between. I figured out how to use PLxC Meters reticle somewhat effectively, but the other two did not work for me at all. With SAI6, I can get a simple FFP MRAD reticle that does not do anything exotic, but does everything I need. In the end, I use both. I have a PLxC with meters reticle and three SAI6 scopes (5.56 BDC reticle, MRAD with X-wing and simple MRAD). Both are pretty good optically, weigh within an ounce of each other and hold up mechanically.
