I enjoy working with my F-1n. Very versatile tool. Exceptional build quality which is not surprising since it was canon’s top of the line for 10 years. The number of attachments is rather large. The waste level view finder and auto winder are useful additions. My favorite lens is my 25mm f2.8. But it is just a tool to help you take pictures and my heart belongs to Hasselblad. Charlie

Yes! This is actually my favorite kind of "reviews..." so often I've found that people reviewing cameras get so caught up in the build structure and the features that they forgot to really showcase WHAT the camera CAN DO. So I love this!!! Yes, please do more. We can find so many videos out there that talk about the camera itself, but seeing someone that we admire or look up to - USE the camera is THE BEST!. :)

Lovely photos and a great camera. I must admit I never liked the metering system of the F1n which is why I sold it, I bought the Canon EF which is a stunning camera and for me handles better than the F1n. The metering system is fast and accurate and the shutter dial is huge and easy to turn with the camera to my eye. It's a real gem of a camera and you never see them in videos or being spoken about.

I like to see what you can do with the camera, that tells me much more than a review. I like to go to Flickr and look at what people do with different cameras, it becomes clear which ones facilitate creativity. Like Ken Rockwell says I want a camera that just gets out of the way. For this my three favourites are my Canon AE-1 Program, Canon Sure Shot Af35m II and Olympus OM-2.

I really enjoy this kind of videos and sharing, it tells so much more about the film, the camera and your practise that a general & basic review. I learn so much more... and it's like a small "journal de bord" (sorry I don't know how to say it in english!) and I really enjoy it ! Reviews, we can find it easily on internet, but these kind of videos you make, it's definitely more rare and interesting! Keep it up plz!

Back in the 35mm film days, two F1n bodies were pressed into service to burn many thousands rolls of 35mm film (100 rolls in a day was not un-common), majority were Fujichrome, Kodachrome, Ektachrome, and some color negative print film. Neither F1n bodies or FD lenses ever had a problem under the most difficult conditions. These are truly Reliable-Durable cameras designed and built to be used by working photographers to keep a roof over their head, food on their table and all the essentials of making a living by creating images. The real world durability, reliability and toughness of these Canon F1n bodies are not appreciated until the photographer presses these cameras into HARD daily service under the most difficult environmental conditions and continue to demand absolute best 35mm film image quality. Few if any 35mm film users today would subject a 35mm film camera to this degree of demanding image making today. The notion of shutter speed dial being not as "easy to turn" as the Nikon is IMO not relevant for the simple fact, the F1n is more than able to control exposure by Av or Tv mode. This relegates the shutter speed dial into a seldom used control. Adding the power winder or motor drive gains both Av and Tv mode. Once the film ISO has been set, Av mode allows the user to pick lens taking aperture with the camera selection the correct shutter speed. Or, Tv mode allows the user set the shutter speed with the camera selecting the correct lens taking aperture.

This isn't the Canon F-1n, it's the New F1, sometimes unofficially called the F-1N - capitalized, hence New F1 better. The Canon F1n was a very minor update to the original 1970s fully mechanical F1, this is the hybrid electric 1980s one.

The Canon F-1 New are THE best analog 35mm ever made ! I have one that looks like it have lived a long and beaten life, the other looks like it have never been used :) Most of the Canon FDn lens range are very good or even exellent. I can highly recommend the FDn 20mm 2.8, the FDn 85mm 1.8 (though I very much want the better FDn 100mm 2.0) and the FDn 300mm 2.8 L. I also have the Canon FDn 24mm 2.8, FDn 28 2.0, 50mm 1.8 (which I do NOT recommend !), FDn 50mm 1.4 and FDn 100mm 4.0 Macro (but I will recommend fx the Tamron 90mm 2.5 Macro 52B Adaptall-2) By the way, I would have used a Pan F film or similar other brand ;)

@filmpjesman1
@filmpjesman1 4 жыл бұрын
Having both the A-1 and New F-1, the bud quality of the F-1 makes me use it in more versatile situations, where I know it will survive if something were to happen. Also, the needle metering is just more easily readable than the A-1. However, the program mode of the A-1 is a joy for more easy shots of people. It's always my back-up camera or bw camera when the F-1 has colour in it. Both great, but the F-1 makes me feel more confident
@caldera878
@caldera878 4 жыл бұрын
Fully mechanically operated shutter if you get the original F-1. No battery needed to take pictures but you lose the light metering. The New F-1 is a hybrid electromechanical shutter which required a battery for timing slower speeds but still is mechanical for faster speeds above 1/90th. Again you lose all light metering if there's no battery. Both original and new F-1 cameras are built to the best for their time. Heavyweight tanks, brass covers, die cast bodies, titanium curtain shutter, weatherproofing for the New F-1, different finder attachments and focusing screens. An entire professional SLR camera system.
