Agreed. Rewatch the Bryce fight. Bryce rocked Ilia more than once and Bryce is half the stand up fighter that Emmett is here. Fan of both guys, but will be cheering for Emmett to make a much better showing than people expect. Ilia is not going to just run through him in R1 like so many are claiming.

Max delayed yair and he almost certainly delayed Arnold who will find a different path to the title shot than through max with another 1 or 2 victories. It's weird it's like max is clearing the division as much as if not more than Alex because he is forcing these guys to give a couple extra fights worth of footage against elite competition for Volk to study, so the max victories will be perceived as more impressive.

Just for fun compare listening to Ilia for an hour or Paddy ? Josh sleeping by the 2nd. Ilia too technical and well rounded. Josh has a puncher's chance yeah, but Ilia got a chin too so even if he gets clipped / dropped it just means Ilia finishes Josh on the matt instead of the feet.

After rewatching Ilia’s fight against Herbert and Emmett’s fight against Yair, I really see Ilia as a bad matchup for Emmett. Emmett likes to swing super heavy trying to find a KO punch, but if Ilia can get in and out and beat him to the punches like Yair did, he can break Emmett down and finish him like he did to Herbert!

Ilia has made lw before and will probably move up if he gets the belt and defends a few times so your matchup isn't a ridiculous one. As you mentioned they're both young too. Honestly I think if ilia bulks up a tiny bit he could win against arman. Very good grappling and has better submission ability imo. Only thing topuria needs to work on really are his kicks and cardio. I'd pay to see this fight for sure!

Let's remember, Ilia was hurt badly & almost finished 3 fights ago vs some regional level opponent from England.. think his nickname is junkyard dog but cant remember his actual name. Yes that was at lightweight but contrary to belief, just because an opponent at lightweight is bigger than a guy from featherweight, doesn't mean they have more power than some featherweights. Josh Emmett- a lifelong wrestler very well carries the pound for pound best punching power in mma today. The guy weighs in at 145. Looks like a chiseled lightweight hits like a strong welterweight . Ilia is very sus in his defense.. & Emmett absolutely smokes him in the wrestling & overall ground work. This is a deal rough matchup for Ilia & very few mma fans know that. They think it's a lamb going into slaughter.
