It's certainly unusual and not something I'd consider! I feel that if you can't glance down at your watch and see the time, it kinda renders it semi-useless.

The dial is beautiful indeed, but maybe the watch needs a more contrasting, thicker hands to be a fully functional piece. Anyway, very good quality and a brand that always tries something new. Thanks for sharing

Love this watch. Completely different than anything I've seen before. I can see myself wearing this out in a casual setting. The lume got me, as I've pre-ordered one. :)

Swiss movement and some great design for around $500 CDN is pretty tempting! It looks pretty chunky for a watch on slightly thicker than 12mm.

Kudos to Houtman for their always interesting dials, even the plain quarzt, with a rather clear identity on simple cases. All the reviews i've seen show an honest microbrand. This series is no exception indeed. Once more, kudos. Thanks for the review Gary, be well mate, cheers.

The dial pattern is visually appealing, but the hands literally disappear at certain points without the lume activated. The lack of instant legibility would make me crazy. With that said, I am a big fan of Houtman watches, and their ability to find their own design language.

I love that river lume! They all have beautiful faces but that one takes the cake.

Happy there are professionals not afraid to create some modern, hight quality watches. Not only corporations digging deeper and deeper into their archives, searching for another model to be re-released. While I love both trends, of course)

Houtman do make nice watches. The two I prefer out of these four are the river lume, because of its unusual dial and the sport. I am currently abstaining from purchasing watches, these are testing my resolve!

The heck with the multi colored lum. Make the dial colorful and just lum the hands. It would make for a much more desirable watch.

Must be the first watch that is only legible in the dark! The other dials look quite good.

I had CSR in my left eye a few years ago. If I close my right eye the green and blue lume look exactly the same colour (blue). Interesting brand that I had previously never heard of - I will have to check them out!

Not keen on that specific dial but the others are fine, gotta love in the fly adjustment 👍🏼

These watches are really good offerings and Jason seems to be a great bloke. In fact with these specs and the finishing quality the price is actually sensational. Personally I'd pick the burnt earth. While the lume effect is really cool on this lume dial, at daylight thr dial is perhaps a touch too distracting, but that's just me.

Very decent value. Lumed dial is awesome. Legibility is kind of a big drawback though.

That's a good price for Sellita movement. I've kind of burnt out on the erratic NH movements. Problem is...I'm not really excited about the look of any of them. No accounting for taste, though....

The night shot reminds me of a stained glass window - very attractive. But, overall I can't see many takers at 600USD: None of the 4 offerings have sufficient 'wow' factor to justify that, imho. Great review as usual Gary..

I would call the reviewed model 'a courageous design', certainly not for everyone, like you, i find the 'sport' model to be the most appealing. Build quality looks to be good, movement is also decent, should be reliable and trouble free.

Interesting watch, with a great movement. Time is hard to read. I wish the hands were a bit larger. @Gary: What is the modelnummer of your Mondaine Railroad Wall Clock? Love the synchronisation of the minute hand at the 12 o'clock.

Dial looks great but hands are way to narrow. Believe it or not, I actually still use a watch to tell the time. And this would be hard for me with those hands.

Missed this video! I really like ALL the other 3 watches but not this one. I think it's a quirky but useless design. Good for those who want wrist jewelry but use their phone to check what the time is! Case quality is excellent and really overall quality seems extremely good. For a Swiss movement, the price is very good indeed. I really like the collection of watches except for this one.

The reviewed watch is far too busy for my taste and difficult to read, the sports watch however is great looking. The drilled lugs make changing the strap/bracelet nice and easy, reducing the chance of damage to the strap.

Very nice spec with that SW200. Is that the direction brands are going since the Swatch Group are restricting access to ETA? What are alternatives for Swiss? Also, finishing looks great across all aspects & I quite like this particular design, it would fit well as something a bit different in the watch box. Like you Gary, not so keen on bracelet design. That said, an original bracelet is apparently a ridiculous amount of work to produce (tapered too), so I appreciate the dedication.

I like seeing new content from watch makers. Experimentation with dials and design is necessary for company growth and relevance. I think we've certainly seen enough of the copycat, cookie cutter homages to Roxel styled divers. I'm not sold on this design, but thanks for showing something different.

I love the look of the Pilbra, the Jade one is on my list, but these new watches don't spark my interest at all. The prototype watch looks ugly AF, messy and hard to read (personal opinion of course).

Though I applaud the aesthetic, I find it too hard to read.

I dont like the hands on the watch , you would of thought they would of made some hands that would stand out ! The blue hands against that crazy weave face just dont stand out imo but could be different in the flesh.
