Ministers are concerned that small boat crossings will rise during the France Olympics, as police will be reassigned from Calais to Paris.
The Home Office has urged the French government to maintain a strong police presence on the Normandy beaches to prevent illegal immigration.
The UK has committed nearly £500 million to France for combating people smuggling operations.
In addition, Home Secretary James Cleverly has pledged UK security service support to safeguard the Olympic Games in July and August.
Despite these efforts, worries persist about police being relocated from the beaches to Paris, which is expected to host 15 million visitors.
The summer months already see a spike in Channel crossings due to favorable weather conditions making the journey less perilous.
Kevin O'Sullivan speaks with political consultant Suzanne Evans.

I don’t think even Reform can help now. They’ll be treated like Trump and get tied up by media ‘storms’ and lawfare. The civil servants just won’t comply with their orders. The visa stampers and asylum granters will just carry on letting their friends in. We are in DEEP TROUBLE. Honestly the only solution I can see is for citizens to arm ourselves and take action. That’s why I think this National service is a good idea. Train us all up, give us the means to defend ourselves before it’s too late. And if we’re too weak to do so then we’ll go the way of the Dodo and Britain will be no more. The Israelis have the right idea about these creatures - we need to act before we end up having our own 7/10. Act or perish.

Has there ever been an official statement from the Government as to why people entering the country illegally and without identifying documents are not actually arrested and charged ? The Law states that "Entry without leave is a breach of section 3(1)(a) and therefore constitutes illegal entry as defined by section 33(1) of the Immigration Act 1971 (as amended by the 1996 Asylum and Immigration Act)." Further more suspected offenders can be arrested without warrant. The Offence of knowingly entering the United Kingdom in breach of a deportation order or without leave can result in a fine, 6 months imprisonment or both. Why is thus not happening?

I can answer that. Because they are being collected by borderforce and the rnli, sometimes within 200 yards of the French coast, they are not classed as illegal. This is why we know that they are being brought here by the British government, these "people smugglers" have never existed, think about it, French intelligence have been unable to locate them, British intelligence have been unable to locate them, Interpol can't find them but illiterate scroungers from Africa know exactly where they are?

The PM said yesterday in an interview that 'people had been rounded up and flights booked' in preparation for deportations. How many have been rounded up I wonder? Over 10,000 have come over so far this year. How many of these have been rounded up? How many who came over last year have been rounded up? How many from the year before that? We all know that it will only be around a hundred or so. And what happens when they get on the plane and refuse to sit down, as they will be told to do by charities and their lawyers? The flight won't be able to take off, and they will be taken back off it.
