Švėkšna Manor Homestead
As soon as we arrive at Švėkšna Manor, the gates of the complex provide us the architectural presentation: monumental, neo-Renaissance building of three parts. In 1880 the owners - the representatives of the famous Pliateriai family - built a small though expressive so-called villa of Genovaitė in the territory of the manor. Neo-Classicistic palace - especially decorative, borrowing this trend from the so-called Empire style - the late variation of the Classicism.

Vilkėnas Manor Homestead
Švėkšna districts are not only rich with a church and a manor carrying the same name: just a few kilometres north to the town, in the village of Vilkėnas, we may find an ensemble that is no less impressive. In the Vilkėnai manor place, which also belonged to Pliateriai, in the surroundings of the newly reconstructed park, new neo- Renaissance palace was built in 1880-1897.

Complex Of Prison Buildings In Šilutė
The two-storey Šilutė courthouse building of official nature, which was characteristic of East Prussian construction of that time, appeared in the middle of the 19th century in the former suburbs of Žibai. On one hand it’s an early building of the so called material style, but its architecture is somewhat eclectic. Neo-Romanticism and neo-Gothic impact may be observed here and it becomes especially clear at the portal crowning the building’s main entrance.

Post-Office In Šilutė
The twists and turns of the history of the Lithuania Minor led to the fact that we can find the whole collection of examples of the architecture of the variation of the German Art Nouveau, Jugendstil, in Klaipėda region. Although the largest as well as the most expressive buildings are situated in Klaipėda, the town of Šilutė also contains a great number of more modest buildings, though typical of the branch. The golden age of the town is marked by its rapid expansion, which took place at the beginning of the 20th century.

Evangelical Lutheran Church In Šilutė
As the Šilutės town (then - Šilo karčema), formed out of four settlements, continued growing rapidly in the early 20th century, a need for a new Lutheran sanctum rose. The church present in one of the subordinate parts, in Verdainė, could no longer meet the needs of all the residents. The cornerstone for the new church was laid in 1913, but only a parsonage was built until the World War I. the construction of the church was delayed up until 1926.

Švėkšna Church
Those travelling to Švėkšna are greeted by two reddish verticals for over a hundred years - these are the towers of the fourth highest church in the country. As with many of the attributes that symbolise the development of the town, the residents of Švėkšna are greatly thankful for the St. James the Apostle Church to the family of landowners Pliateriai: it was they who contributed the greatest sum and the materials necessary for the construction of the new sanctum.
