@r700xxx I am pretty sure most professionals use the grid system, so all units are on qwer | asdf | zxcv It keeps your hand in one spot on the keyboard so you arent hunting for stuff.

@Losiaczek85 My guess is that that it helps them keep up a rhythm and be comfortable at that particular speed. You just simply get used to be that fast, and you utilize it easier when you really need a higher speed.

@milosQaX not to mention larva spawn every 15 seconds, if you can do it quickly enough, u can squeeze out some more units.

@milosQaX watch again, he used the drones to defend the attack. He was making sure his drone count was still up to standard.

@TheReapergod36 I see no wasted apm, he is constantly checking the status of his queen energy, health of his control groups (to see if they are under attack) how much larvae he has so he can judge how to best spend resources, and progress of his upgrades. He is just doing all of this really freaking fast.

@kparker798 He was under attack and he had to micro his units while still maintaining good production (injects, overlords...)

@laxfan727 Speed is always important in any RTS. If you can do things faster than your opponent you will gain an advantage. Tactics only come into play for people who are evenly matched in speed and mechanics, or in turn-based games like Civilization.

@J4Angel his avg. APM was recorded as 357 (iirc). So the real APM which he spent macro and micro actually was around 250-280. And it's SC2 APM @@

@SvennemanZZZ I'd think the same thing if he was playing Protoss or Terran, but with Zerg, that much APM is actually required for everything you have to do, if you want to do it perfectly.

@BrickDangerface clicking the minimap is a good way to learn mouse accuracy. If you can click to any expo at will by minimap, you're good.

@BrickDangerface Ok yeah I agree with that. Camera hotkeys and control groups are the best way. I thought you meant never but there are a lot of situations where clicking is the best option such as scanning and unit control. If I have two armies that i want to split up then a-clicking the minimap is the fastest way to get that done.

@DreamRaider1111 Some use grid, some don't. TLO and Socke use grid I believe. Some have a completely custom setup, I hear Artosis has forcefield on x.

@l33tpwnzord nope its a very bad habit to have, for getting around you mostly want to be using control groups, just double tap the key and it centers on the group, very short distances you can bump the screen with a mouse scroll and for long distances u dont have a group at just click the minimap. you never want to use the arrow keys, hope this helps.

@WackenVideos Actually Boxer used to use arrow keys in Broodwar when he was dominating ;) Not sure if he still does it sometimes though...

@l33tpwnzord Nope. That's considered inefficient compared to using control groups and screen hotkeys. Use the minimap to get there the first time, and hit the edges of the screen with the mouse for very minor adjustments.

@k4m4x0 They play competitively, just like a professional footballer, or tennis player, or any other sportsman, they enjoy the adrenaline rush of a knife edge competitive game, of course they don't sit there grinning whilst they're playing, they're concentrating, staying tense to keep up with the game, but when they win, you can bet they're happy, they're fucking ecstatic, and more so than you'd ever be simply playing it for "fun".

@PhoenixL1ght He won MLG Columbus playing against IM Losira in the finals who is a top 3 zerg, he made it to the finals of the Super Tournament, he's taken games off IMMVP before in TvT which is amazing in itself. Yes, Polt did own him in the finals, but you have to realize that Polt would of been practicing TvT with Marine King like his life depended on it so he had AMAZING preparation and 0 jet lag. MMA on the other hand wasn't practicing TvT or preparing for the finals... he was winning MLG.

@creakypenguin it's real- the crowd and game sounds aren't sped up, plus if you watch the drones they're moving at a normal speed.

@niteterror2k7 does he need too think about zerg hotkeys, 's' 'd' 'z' 'r' 't' 'c' 'f' for the main units of zerg army/workers soo honestly he doesnt really need too move from the 'wasd' hand rest . . and changing hotkeys for like '0' too 'w' considering w isnt used makes selecting all your hatcheries so much easier

And the whole point of streaming is to entertain. It's isn't a competition of who is the best -> always most viewers.

It's because instead if relying on reflexes, he's "automatizing" his actions. I really can't describe how I think in words however..
