Sir, in the 2nd case can one ray go along the pole of mirror and another to the principal focus? Will the image still lie between P and F?
@ProfessorPhi

Yes... Because the ray from the pole will be diverted below the principal axis.. And if you extend backwards.... Then it will form image between Pole and focus

It's note concave but it is convex , you changed mirror name by mistake please correct it. ❤
@ProfessorPhi
@ProfessorPhi 2 ай бұрын
Hello... I think you are not aware of concave and convex mirrors. A convex mirror is a mirror in which the reflecting surface is on the outer surface. And in this video.. Mirror having reflecting surface on the outer side. So it is indeed a "convex mirror". Google it if you don't trust me.... Don't follow the diagram.. Follow the logic 😇. I hope I am able to correct you properly. 😇

@zeeshanaltaf7626
@zeeshanaltaf7626 7 ай бұрын
Sir u have explained it wrong way because we have to keep in view the sing conventions of convex mirror as u have made the diagram wrong because all the distance are measured from pole and in convex mirror the focal length is positive but in your diagram there is shown focal length negative. I hope I would get my response.sir if I am wrong please reply me.
@ProfessorPhi
@ProfessorPhi 7 ай бұрын
No.. My explanation is correct✅... Let me clear your doubts... 1) I appreciate your observation. Whatever you are saying is correct. 2) You consider the left as negative and right as positive (sign conventions used in books) which is correct at its place. 3) but If you look carefully.. then you will realise that in my video mirror's reflecting surface is on the right side.. But in the book it's on the left side. 4) it means the mirror in the video is the opposite of the mirror in the book. Thus my sign convention is the opposite.. 5) And by the way.. I have not mentioned sign conventions in my video.. (Just to avoid confusion) 6) this video is totally for "Understanding how images form" And has nothing to do with sign conventions.. But I would like to give you a bonus tip... 7) *Bonus* : never consider the left & right as positive and negative. Because once you change the "orientation" your answers go wrong..🙁 📌Instead of that consider "Side in front of reflecting surface is always negative" Because of this you will never ever confuse... Try it.. This applies for concave as well as convex mirrors.. With any kind of orientation.. You keep it upward facing, left facing, right facing.. What ever you want.. It always gives you the correct answer.. (Just remember 📌 this rule) You also.. Who is reading this whole comment.. I know it's long.. But if you still not understand.. Then vote below... 👇👇 I will prepare one video for this.. 😇

@@ProfessorPhi But sir when ever we will do numerical based question.it will creat problem for us because In most of the NCRT books there is written just i said above.There Is a case in image formation of concave mirror that when we place object between pole and focus image is formet behind the mirror (right side) as we measure all the distances from pole and to the right side we take it as positive.during numerical it will creat us problems because during numerical we have to keep signs as well (in many NCRT BOOKES THERE IS WRITTE LIKE THIS DISTANCES FROM POLE TO RIGHT SIDE IS TAKE AS POSITIVE AND TO THE LEFT SIDE ITS TAKES AS NEGATIVE.)
@ProfessorPhi
@ProfessorPhi 7 ай бұрын
@@zeeshanaltaf7626 yes.. That's what I am saying.. If you follow the rule then you will confuse.. But if you follow the logic.. You will not.. And logic is simple.. 📌" Side in front of reflecting surface is always negative". Try to solve a few questions with the above logic.. And then tell me how your answers were.. Whether they are correct or not.. And are they confusing? But remember the logic 📌.
