SMS, we need to determine the area of a JPEG image and then within that area an anomaly.... that way we can compute the percent that the anomaly is of the total area. Do you recommend ImageJ or jiji ImageJ? We cant calibrate or determine the area of size within the image, that is why we need to determine the percent. The 1st area is essentially a circle the 2nd inside area is somewhat of a triangle. Thanks in advance.

Hi, this is very helpful and easy to follow. Thank you very much. Is there a way to measure the selected rectangular area so that the same area of interest can be kept uniform for multiple images? or if we select the rectangular area in one image and are analyzing a stack of images, will that same rectangular area selection will apply to all?

Hi professor. Great video! I will appreciate so much if you can clarify my doubt, it is about the result of the mean value obtained by the thresholding method. The summarized results showed 2851.485nm^2 +/- 1217nm^2. So, is it possible to say that the grain size of your sample is: 2851.485^0.5 +1217^0.5 = 53.40 nm +/- 34.89 nm ?? Thanks for your time
@albo5194

that would obviously depend on the shape you want to assume. Most particles shapes are approached using spheres so you would need to find the diameter of a sphere with given cross sectional area.. if the shape is very irregular i would either take an average of different lines through the particle or choose a strategy (like e.g. finding the maximum Feret diameter)

Thank you very much, for your tutorial. I was wondering how can use the threshold if I have holes onto a surface area that I want to measure? It feels like they break my total area in small pieces. I was thinking to take about 5 measurement of it manually at this point and use a standard deviation, could that work?

Thank you for the video. I am using Image J for analysing my bubbles (from Foam). Since the bubbles are see through, I need to use the manual method for selecting the bubbles. However , this is taking a lot of time and some cases it considers one big bubble as two and calculates the area. What is the solution for this? Though I set the scale initially to cm, it displays results in area percentage. In this case what would be the unit of my results? Please help.

@SMSTechEdu
@SMSTechEdu 5 жыл бұрын
If you know the length of any part of the leaf ( which you can measure manually after scanning using a scale), just draw a straight line over this know length. Using set scale, give it the value, which is measure manually. This process will not be 100% accurate, but it will work.

Hi, Great tutorial video ! I have a question, when I clicked the particle size analyzer, a small window popped up and showed a table of area, minimum, maximum, and mean. Do you know what is minimum, maximum, and mean stands for the particle with an abstract shape (its shape is sometimes like rod and sometime like oval) ? (i'm working with micro fibril cellulose/ MFC particle). Im not sure that minimum and maximum stand for width and length, because the value is much larger than area. I hope someone answer my questions. Thank you so much !
@SMSTechEdu
@SMSTechEdu 6 жыл бұрын
First of all thank you. Coming to your question, min, max and mean represent the 'gray value' of the particular selection. Gray value '0' means complete black and '255' means complete white. Hence these things are not related to shape, rather related to color. One more thing is that you are getting - 'area', 'min', 'max' as default in 'result' pop up. But you can set those parameters or add more according to your requirement by going 'Analyze'--> 'Set Measurement'.
