Such a masterpiece! This is so helpful, but still feels so far away for me. Practicing every day, but landscapes or basic rooms leave me gnawing on my sketchbook.

Havent watched a timelapse video like this in a looong time. Kinda want to make one myself, even if the outcome isnt as good as this haha

I love it, tho I feel like having some indications of people walking in and out of the gate would make it even better. It seems to be a significant place, so having it completely deserted of folks seems a bit off in terms of function. :)

Dunno if I'll get an answer to this but I'll ask anyway. Is there a good reference that is good for learning background art? I know the obvious answer is to "draw from life" and real buildings, but I feel like that will only produce "realistic" results, not like the fantastic ones seen in most professional digital artists' work. Your other video helped me understand perspective, was wondering about this too since I can't find a good "how-to" source for drawing backgrounds themselves.

Fantastic and very useful! It would be even more grandiose if there were some initial considerations on perspective and lights / colors. Also I was curious to see how you painted the characters. In any case, thank you very much!

Perrin Ayabara I didn’t plan the perspective or colors out. Literally just from the base sketch and separating from th sky with blue shadows. Then I used warmer neutrals where light would hit them if them came from the right side it’s all guess work.

Lee Miller it’s the airbrush in photoshop or soft round as some cal it. It looks like a circle on my screen not sure why the recorder make it different

Oh wow. I guess I'm just impatient. That's still impressive, I usually take about 15 - 20 hours on a painting. If you were producing this for, say, a film or game studio, is that the general amount of time they would expect for a concept paint?
