Pastor David Swanson joins Dr. Anita to continue the conversation they began on her Season 2, episode 8 podcast titled, "The Betrayal". Pastor Swanson, author of "Rediscipling the White Church: From Cheap Diversity to Racial Unity" helps us to reimagine "everyday" church practices in a way that prepares the body of Christ to BE the be the body of Christ.

Wow. This conversation is so edifying. I'm not an American, I'm watching this from Africa...thank you both for having this conversation. I'm African. I've done ministry with European Christians who identified as white, not as Christian. Because of that, we didn't really get to do ministry from the Spirit's perspective (which I really wanted to do!!) because they saw themselves as "benevolent missionaries" to poor Africans. You can imagine the respect level. I was raised in a middle class family, went to good schools, had access to modern conveniences, and even lived in what would be called "upmarket/good" neighborhoods. I had a well paying job prior to joining that ministry, was very responsible, and still had to endure being reduced to a cultural and economic stereotype. We have many tribes here, and our European colleagues believed that because they had information about our cultures and the foolish stereotypes we have, that they understood what it was like to grow up in it. And so the familiarity based on head knowledge rather than lived experience was rather grating. It would have been nice to relate to believers, not white people who thought living here for thirty years made them African. This is a conversation that is truly needed. In the same way that we as African Christians need to come out of our cultures and embrace the culture of the Kingdom, European/American/Asian etc Christians also need to have the Kingdom culture as their foundation and identity. It's the only way we get to bring the Kingdom to an earth that desperately needs it. Blessings on you both. You are sorely needed in the Body of Christ. 🙏🏾

Thank you very much for this very inspirational and important conversation. God’s Holy Spirit is working in Churches worldwide to bring about a change. I belong to an Anglican Church in England and we want to move from being multi racial to ‘Intercultural Church’. I am currently employed as an ‘Intercultural ministry enabler’ My role is to encourage members of our congregation to integrate with people of all cultures and learn from each other as we grow together as a family of God.

When I listened to the October 26th podcast The Betrayal... I felt the speakers pain. I am a Christian black woman who goes to a predominantly all white church where I see subliminal undertones of racism and none of the painful issues about the wrongful deaths of our black people have been addressed. Secretly hiding and wanting them to address the issue or at least acknowledge the injustices NOT ONE of my sisters or brothers or Pastor and First Lady have and I have been hiding... thank you Dr Anita as I am new to your podcasts for addressing the tough issues of mental health and Christianity I myself have been seeing a Life Coach for the past two years and can say whew I am grateful for her. thank you to the guest speaker for your compassion and openness as well.

Amazing conversion! This has helped me so much in navigating my own uncertainty being a Black woman a part of a White-led, multi-racial church in Canada. Thank you Dr. Anita and Pastor David Swanson for sharing your wisdom with us.
