This is the song that will always a place in my heart. I struggled with a deep depression that I managed to hide so well during my teenage years and young 20s and I finally beat it around 24. I listened to this on a random Wednesday when it was raining heavily when I made the sudden realisation - I did it. I’m turning 26 this week, I’m married to my best friend and we’re looking to have a kid soon. If there’s anything you take from this, it’s that you go into dark places, but it’s possible to get out of it, no matter how difficult. This song was that motivation for me, even if it’s perceived differently by others. I’m so proud of myself, that will always be my biggest accomplishment.

Now this year I’m in my final year of high school and I might not experience that. About 3 or 4 months ago i was battling depression and had suicidal thoughts from people telling me that "I'd never amount to anything good in life" or that "I'm a worthless being." I started to think "who'll even remember me...i'm just a stupid 13 year old kid that cant make a difference" But one day. One day changed everything when a song came on. It talked about "building up from the bottom of a pit" and "never changing who I am." Immediately after that day I went back to my house and immediately bust into tears, it was the first time i was able to truly smile in weeks. Listening to this reminds me of grade 4, when the whole class was returning from a school trip on a bus. The driver put this song on the speakers and everyone in our class remembered it from our practices in music class. We were all screaming this song at the top of our lungs. Having the time of our lives, shouting like the whole world couldn't hear us. And for four minutes, nothing else mattered. I was surrounded by friends who would leave, friends who would stay, and friends who I would remember for the rest of my life. I cherish this song and this memory to be one of the greatest moments of my childhood. Thankyou Imagine Dragons.
