‘Ms. Marvel’ is finally here! Meet Iman Vellani: the MCU’s newest hero.
Vellani has been a die-hard Marvel fan since her early teens, when she frequented her local comic book store and collected copies of Invincible Iron Man. It wasn’t until later that she discovered Kamala Khan - Ms. Marvel herself - and immediately felt connected to the character, reading her comic constantly and even cosplaying as her on Halloween. When she auditioned for the show, it was obvious that she was a perfect fit for the role.
The up-and-coming star joined Elite Daily for this month’s cover shoot, and we gave her a pop quiz on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She may be a new face in Hollywood, but considering how well she aced this test, she’s clearly no stranger to the Marvel films!

The thing about that I don’t understand about that is why the people of 838 gave themselves the designation 838 - wouldn’t it make more sense to call yourself Earth-001? And then number each new universe in the order you discover them? Unless someone outside 838 gave them that number?

She is Kamala Khan in real life. And she really manifested this role via cosplay. Marvel couldn’t have picked a more appropriate actress to play this character. We haven’t seen this much charisma in the MCU since Tony died. She’s a more believable Peter Parker than even Tom Holland, and I’ve only seen one episode. Plus the representation on display is truly immaculate, even if you can’t relate, so many young teenage boys and girls of color have lived in this exact type of environment. Especially Asians on all the sides of that spectrum. Can’t wait to see more, and for Kamala’s debut on the big screen. The MCU been lacking in style points cause this show had all of it. Scott Pilgrim would be proud.
