Lester: my first day in the classroom was August, 1969. My last day was May 24, 2019. I have empathy for the issues you face as you walk away. Now that I’ve retired, I seriously wonder why I didn’t go sooner. I have greatly reduced my stress level by not teaching through Covid. I’ve taught so long some of my best friends are former students! I’m a firm believer things happen for a reason and things ALWAYS work out. Again I say, if I could only access one KZfaq household, it would be all y’all’s family channels.

Shirley Bird and Huck have special souls, I hope the grandbabies carry that line and their spirits too, Lavern and Shirley never really separated that mother child bond.Like most animals will. Even if you had known about the babies when it happened they were OK and being cared for, what else could you have done , other than move them to the stall/Nursery. They can nurse off mom for a few days then I'm guessing bottle time( ya'll better start drinking your diet Dr Pepper again you are going to need 5 more bottles). So heart warming that Journey is a big girl now and part of the herd, I always thought she would have to be separated for most of her life.I love that you can tell which donkey was braying just by the sound- they all sound the same to me.

I, too, took a leap of faith in October 2019, by retiring at the age of 71, depending on SSA, to survive. I know this like comparing apples to oranges, but, Lester, I've never been happier.

It's the circle of life, everything is birthed lives and dies. We may not like it, as much as we wish it wasn't like this. It has to happen. No matter how much we love someone or something. Maybe little nanny goat 🐐 is just feeling her year's and just needed an extra lay in. Plus she was there with Shirley to see lavern give birth to another generation. A beautiful sight to see. ❤️

I will watch this in it's entirety after work. I just had to see Laverne and her babies, as she has a very special place in my heart. I love all the animals but there's just something about Laverne that got me as soon as she was born. So happy for her and us all! Cant wait to see more of Shirley, Laverne, and those kids.

That’s okay Lester, I no longer need a sanctuary when I can support and watch yous! I’m also resigning at the end of the school year from the school system. Whether I can make it or not, I’ll soon see. “Retirement” not quite, when one is any type of a caregiver there’s no rest or enjoyment every minute. Sending everyone hugs on Lavern’s births.

The happiest day of my life was when I retired at age 43. I had no idea how we were going to survive with two children lots of pets and one income. But we managed it was the best thing I’ve ever done was retiring from that job and it’s within six weeks I was on to a new career job not what I had planned but I would prefer to stay retired at 43. But you’re gonna love it Lester it’ll all work out

I was raised on a (mainly) dairy farm. I know what goes into running a farm with 1,600+ animals - there is no let up. When I’m not at work, I’ve been helping my mum out because it’s the start of calving and lambing season. I’m a full time Quality Control Engineer in my day job, but I just can’t fully pull myself away from farm life.

👍👍👍. Nothing really goes as planned like opening the gate so all the Little’s can enjoy all the green grass and Annie can do what she does best checking the grounds that all is safe. I’m thinking that the old Nannie was observing the birth and reflecting on her own life as she knows the end is coming. There was two goats watching over the babies .....one very close and one across the barn enjoying her memories. Lester ya just have to stay busy and act each day like you are going to work so that ya don’t get lazy and then enjoy this time of life that ya worked to get to. A year ago there were those who said to get rid of the old folks as they got sick with COVID and let the younger ones have a life. I just wondered what was old cus people live longer cus they’ve had good health. Age is a state of mind and Lester your mind is so wacko and full of what’s next to do THAT you’ll never get old just a bit slower. But that’s okay cus there’s always new life and Little’s playing in the lush pasture and a moment to say goodbye to an old friend as ya observe what you’ve built for future generations. Just keep the door open for those whose lives you have helped along with all the animals you’ve saved and spend time listening to their stories and know that you’ve done good after all. Just LIVE and say thanks every day when your eyes open up to another day cus each are so special. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
