Love these tips and how you do your shading and lighting! I’m always afraid to do more bold shading in my alcohol marker art because I’m afraid of messing it up 😭 I’m in a little art slump right now too. Thinking maybe I should do more portrait studies like this 😁

Even though you said you’re not paying attention to likenesses that much; but whenever you make portraits you still do an excellent job of capturing the faces of your models accurately. A perfect blend of style and realism ^^

I just got this marker set and I am pretty new to art so the colorfulness of the set intimidated me and I decided to look for videos of more experienced artists using the set and your video is awe inspiring. I know you said this felt like a slump to you but I hope my bad days art can be as pretty as yours one day. ^^ I am so thankful that you didn't scrap this video. When you are having a rough time, remember that art beginners like me learn through watching and most of them rarely comment so you leave an impact both in your good days and your bad days. Thank you for making such an enjoyable video!

just got the 168 marker set from ohuhu in the mail as a bday gift 🙌 regardless of whether or not you set out intending to add color to these portraits, in the end it came out really cool, like light shining through an insect wing. thanks for sharing the process with us ☺️

Love to do white and black value study. You can learn so mich aber contrast. That's so important for realistic drawings ❤️ but like you say the reference is also important. 😊 It's easier when the reference have a clear light source and great contrast. Thanks for the video

Absolutely agree with you that it's good to share things you might not be 100% satisfied with: it's insightful to see and hear! Have a lovely weekend, I'm spending mine with swatching and rearranging my Ohuhu markers in a new bag, so it's a good day 😉✨

I really like the mix of the markers and the texture of the pencils and the subtle colouring the pencils added. I'm also glad you share things you feel are less than your best - it is helpful to know even the best of us have what they feel are off days (even if I'm looking at your off day art in envy LOL)

Thank you for sharing 💕 Sometimes I feel like a “bad artist” because a piece doesn’t turn out how I wanted it to or because I’m struggling to improve certain skills, so to see a artist I admire be open about experiencing those feelings too and to hear how you push on and create anyway hit me right in the feels 🥺💓

I am trying to expand my ohuhu marker set and saw these. I wasn't sure how I would be able to use these since I work alot in color. Seeing you layer the color pencil on top of the 1st portrait inspires me to try these for many of my style of art. Thanks for the video!

I really enjoyed watching this video. Love how you approach a practice drawing. The second study you showed is my favorite one. I’ve been wanting to try this technique and I got a lot of markers that I need to use. It’s a nice start to drawing when you’ve got an art block. I do have a thought I would like to share. Alcohol markers kind of breaks down the pigment of the color itself, even with a neutral color. So it will kind of fade on white paper making it lighter than it appears to be. That’s why you need to create a certain amount of layers to get an idea of which colors works to your liking. Anyway I know that I went on too long with my comment. Hope I helped in some small way. Can’t wait to see another video. Take care. 🥰🦋❤️😊
